I just came across this auction on the French eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/Manettes-Nes-Snes-Wii-Adaptateur-Nintendo-W-/370350188319?cmd=ViewItem&pt=FR_SK_JeuxVideo_Accessoires&hash=item563a97671f

Does anyone know about this thing and have a clue if it works properly? And does it work with the virtual console games too? Cause in that case it would be quite nice to have.

Weird that it says that it's for NES & SNES when it has a Genesis/Mega Drive & SNES gamepad port. I'd imagine that it's just to play Virtual Console games with the original gamepads.

Oh yea, I didnt even notice that one port isnt even for the NES.

Does some kind of adapter like this also exist for PC btw?

Retrozone makes them, and they are available in a a kit or assembled.

I purchased one of these on ebay awhile back and can confirm that it works like a charm. I was able to play all Virtual Console games and WiiWare games with a SNES pad. Mega Man 9 and 10 played beautifully, as well as Cave Story. But yeah, North American NES controllers are not compatible despite what the description says, but why would you need a NES controller when you can use a SNES pad? That's my opinion anyway.

Oh, one more thing. I hooked a few 3-button Genesis controllers up to this thing just to test, but none of them worked properly. So it's pretty much a SNES pad-only device... at least as far as I can tell.

I think that controller port on the left is for nes clones - a lot of them used a port like that instead of the normal nes controller port, I dont know why they would label it nes though.

I'd consider this adapter better for the wii than the ones that hook up to the gamecube port, as it acts as a Classic Controller, which is the only non wiimote control supported by a few games such as megaman 9/10 (though if you were wanting to use this with gamecube games, that would be a whole 'nother story). You can also set turbo on one/all of the buttons, as well as analog emulation (hold up and start for 3 seconds or something like that).

i found a pinout diagram for both if anyone was interested in doing a little conversion. I did see someone fit a whole nes controller port into there as a replacement. http://davr.org/snes/joystick.txt
