Let it be known that I rarely buy a new game at full retail price. I often stick with the classics, and always buy new. Transformers War for Cybertron is a well polished game, complete with a robust single player(levels are very long), excellent mulitplayer(Call of Duty Style tier system, complete with different soldier classes). I bought the PS3 version and am having A BLAST. The campaign can be played with two other people via online as well, something that I did last night lag free for over two hours. There also is an escalation mode, in which you fight wave after wave of enemies 2 to four players. Bottom line: This is not tied to a move, the game was made by HUGE G1 Transformers fans, it does not suck, and will stand on its own as probably by far as finally the game that does the Transformers name justice.
If you are fan of Transfromers, at least consider this game. I am sure that this game will go on sale somewhere, but just wanted to give it a plug because it was a game that lived up to my expectations...that never happens.

Also, Stan Bush of "You've got the touch" fame composed a totally rad new Transformers (closing credits) theme!
*spoiler alert* I believe you won't hear this till you beat the single player campaign, so don't watch it if you want to earn it.

Looks very good, although I cannot accept it as they used the Hugo Weaving Megatron voice and not Frank Welker.

Which is ironic considering that they used Welker for the movie tie in games.

Thats not Hugo Weaving in the game. Check the credits, Fred Tatasciore is the actors name.

It's been damn fun to play and get the achievements. I really hope they put out some decent DLC to back up the multiplayer ie more chassis and maps.

There's no excuse for not using Welker then. I could understand Weaving having some stake of ownership of the Megatron vioce work ...
... Tatasciore was likely just a less a expensive and more available voice-over actor.

It's not Hugo Weaving, but it's a VA who is doing the Weaving voice. At first I thought they wanted the voices to be like the movie, which makes no sense on two fronts. The actual two movie games featured Frank Welker as Megatron, and Welker was the voice to Soundwave in the garbage second movie. Yet he's not included, most likely as Frankie said for cost. Even so, they could have picked a VA who could imitate Welker's Megatron. It's a classic, instantly recognizable voice. Peter Cullen was included in this game, as was Corey Burton, the original Shockwave.

Ive been playing the pc version of this game for a bit. It runs great set at high. However, the game is capped at 30fps like how Split Second was. Kinda too bad. I mean even one Hd3850 card handles the game fine, as I tested it in both single card and Crossfire to compare performance and either was fine. But nonestly I was highly interested in seeing just how fast fps wise my Hd3850s could run it before I pull them out when my set of 5770 cards arrive. Oh well. Great game regardless, with a nice serious storyline.

how much replay value does the multiplayer have. I actually just watched revenge of the fallen about an hour ago haha. Do you see the multiplayer being active for some time to come?

Now why did you go and do that when you could've watched the 20th anniversary edition of the 1986 animated movie?

That is a tough one to tell. Here is how I look at it. It is obvious that many people were cautious with picking this one up, as they have a right to be for any product tie in game. I feel that there will be enough online activity for this one hopefully through the holdiays. If you are worried about people playing, you might want to get the XBOX 360 version, as it probably sold better. I played the PS3 version yesterday and there the online count was below 4,000. I am hoping for a price drop so that folks can pick this one up. While on other days it was lag free, my connections yesterday were bad.

Do you get to play as the transformers from the movie series?

This is pretty much the same case as Butcher Bay with the Riddick series. As long as it isn't based on a movie and it's pretty much it's own game, then it usually doesn't suck. Even if it does have movie characters.
This game is really awesome; highly recommended.

Yes.
Anybody know if you can link 2 Xbox 360's together (offline via a patch cable), and play local lan type multiplayer?

I really want to pick this up, but there are so many games I want now. Red Dead Redemption, Halo Reach, Black Ops, Rock band 3, dead rising 2, and now this. Ahhh help me!
