It's a "go".

The Digital Press psychOpedia, which represents the complete game libraries of over 60 game systems from 1972-2003, will be unveiled at Classic Gaming Expo on August 10th.

The book is 200 pages spiral bound, color cover and back. This is a great reference book if you're wondering "who made what and for what system", as it is presented by manufacturer... what a great way to collect all the games from your favorite game companies. Approximately 20,000 games are listed!

The book will sell for a paltry $10. You can't afford NOT to own one :)

When will this book by aviliable to those aerge Joes not going to CGE? I take it the book is just a game and system listing, not rarities like the offical DP Guides?

It will be available here (and possibly through amazon.com) after CGE and before September 1st. No rarities in this one, it's a reference guide: Manufacturer (sometimes with a manufacturer "brief"), game titles, system. Rumor Mill, prototypes, and imports are indicated as well.

Let's see . . . what? No FM Towns Marty section? Bah!

Seriously, this looks great. Are there any sample pages to check out?

Is there any reasoning behind calling it PsychOpedia? It doesn't sound appropriate to me.

The price is certainly right! :)

It's an ancient title from Digital Press lore. If you were a subscriber in the early/mid 90's it would make perfect sense - we used to run several letters of the alphabet at a time in our bi-montly publication. This is the culmination of those years plus many more.

And if you're wondering where the term came from in the first place, consider that this is an encylopedia of sorts, and we are, well, not at all right in the head. Hence, psych-O-pedia.

Yep. Paper.

That's pretty much it though. By the time the book comes out the online version will be completely up to date so you can just download it if that's your thing.

When does the next DP guide with Rarities list come out?

I answer this question so often that you'd THINK I'd have a text file to cut and paste. I think I'll start one now! 8-)

Consider that there are now THREE book projects. The original red Guide, the psychOpedia, and the blue "advance" Guide (16-bit systems and up).

The original DP Collector's Guide (http://www.digitpress.com/dpg_plug.htm) is still less than a year old so you won't see a new one of those until next year sometime, quite likely for CGE2k4.

The "advance" Guide is still being filled and fleshed out and you can see this progress for the most part on our online rarity guide page (http://www.digitpress.com/lists.htm). This book could be ready by early 2004, but we're not in a hurry. I've seen what happens when these things get rushed and it's not good for our hobby.

I hope I answered your question, let me know if I did not.
