Hi I just got a Sega CD 1 and hooked it up with my genesis model 1, I get no sound whatsoever when I play a cd game, Im trying my Terminator game, It plays fine on the sega cd 2 I have. I test my setup using a regular cartridge game and I can hear it, when I turn on the sega CD I can hear the loading screen music and the sega logo sound but no sound from the cd game. I tried it with the mixing cable , without it, connecting the genesis thru AV cables, connecting audio cables directly from the sega cd but nothing. can anyone help?! thanks!

I know that when a TurboDuo's sound goes out it's the capacitors. Maybe that could be the same problem with your Sega CD? Wouldn't hurt to open it up and take a look around to check.

Well if your hearing the Sega CD BIOS music than your at least getting a mono signal from the Genesis. Put an actual audio CD in there and see if you can hear it.

Make sure your getting sound straight out the back of the Sega CD Line Out audio out ports, not from the Genesis A/V Multiout port, otherwise you won't hear the Sega CD.

The mixing cable may be bad so you could always replace it with a better one.

The headphone audio level has to be all the way up to 10 btw.

Clean the expansion port contacts on the Genesis to ensure all connections are being made to the Sega CD connector.

Hopefully it's just a wire problem and not a capacitor problem as todesengel pointed out.

Hope this helps somehow.
