Hello,
I got my SNES a few years back (2005?), and it has yellowed quite a bit on the exterior. I tried wiping it off with a cloth and some rubbing alcohol, but it didn't fix it. What are some other materials I can consider in terms of restoring the system to its original light grey colors? Thanks!

Retrobright is the only thing that works. I don't know anyone that sells the stuff though so you're going to have to google the recipe and make it yourself.
If someone here DOES know where I could buy it premade though please send me a PM, i've got a yellow snes too.

There is a chemical solution which reverses this damned yellowing problem which plagues ABS plastics (someone beat me to announcing that). I just cant find it on the net right now. Will edit once found.

Damn it- just what I feared. Well, I'm not busting my left nut again to get another one. My mom would kill me for bringing another system into the house.
Isn't it possible to put a fresh coat of paint on it or something- just to get that piss yellow off of it? if so, what sort of paint would I need (I'm not really a handyman, obviously XD)

I actually tried this about six months ago with a yellowed Super Famicom, and was successful. I made a thread about it on Racketboy with pictures and a list of materials I used:

Hope this helps!

Does the yellowing of the SNES plastic actually start to damage the console? Like if it is only affects how it looks I really dont care that much.

Read the thread. The yellowing process can be reversed and prevented. Only half of the SuperNes casing having yellowed is irrelevent.

It can make the casing brittle and prone to cracking and damage. But it shouldn't hurt the internal components.

I think the yellowing gives a system some personality. Nah who I am kidding, I much prefer a minty one.

I'd be shocked if this topic hasn't come up before
