I looked for a thread about this to no luck. I am wondering if anyone has a good list of modern titles which are currently discontinued. I am bringing this up because I went to EB games and found that the game I was looking for had been discontinued. I did manage to get a used copy (Ghostbusters - The Video Game - PS3) I was shocked considering the hype about this game and the clout that the Ghostbusters franchise has.

These days, unless it's a powerhouse franchise like Mario or GTA, most games have a shelf life of about three to six months. After that, you're best bet is the second hand market.

This makes me sad, I really wanted to get 9 of these titles new.

"Mini Ninjas" for Wii is surprisingly difficult to find in the retail stores. I've only seen it two times since its release.

What, really? My local Walmart had like thirty of these at one point.

In the clearance bin.

They're discontinuing Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn? I have not seen that game ONCE in stores. What the fuck.

Loved Path of Radiance too, wish I had known it was a $30 title before I traded it in a while back to Gamestop.

Use online retailers like Amazon or GameQuestDirect more often. Ghostbusters is only 14.99 new at Amazon or 19.99 new at GameQuestDirect.

Also, it seems people haven't come to realize this. Gamestop doesn't keep stock what doesn't sell. I've seen games that haven't been sold at a Gamestop for years, but you can still get them brand new from online retailers.

I'd suggest that if you haven't had the game for more than seven days, you can bring it back to Gamestop to get a refund since it's a used title. Regardless if it's working or not you have seven days to bring it back for any reason. Then wait until you see something you want to buy from Amazon in the future. Get the price at least $25 and you can get free shipping.

This pretty much sums it up.

Last week the PC version was dirt cheap on Steam and Direct2Drive.

Bionic Commando is discontinued. Probably not going to be all that hard to find, but I picked one up from Amazon for $10 as I doubt it's going to drop lower. Afro Samurai is as well, for the PS3 at least. And it's become a pain in the ass to find for a good price from a reliable retailer.

It's in liquidation outlets already. A store near me has them for something like $8 sealed, and even in a 2 for $10 sale. It's fair to say there's a lot more copies than customers.

Cursed Mountain on Wii is discontinued as well.

Over in one.

In other words...They're ALL discontinued after a few months. Someone end this thread before it becomes another "This game is rare where I live" topic.

Agreed. In fact, Nintendo is probably the only company that doesn't consistently discontinue their first party games in a few months and maintains generally higher price points throughout the shelf life of their products.

That seems pretty consistent to me.

It's not always just whining. Certain games do get inconsistent (if not outright terrible) distribution without a clear reason given by their publisher. Where they're plentiful as heck in some cities, while sold out the first month or two in others and then never restocked despite that.

Yeah. For me it was within 2 or so months before Ghostbusters was completely gone from the new shelves.

That seems pretty consistent to me.But those have all been out for years at this point, not months. (Well, maybe not Metroid Prime Trilogy. What's up with that!?)

This confuses me also. It hasn't even been out a year yet.

Nintendo doesn't fuck around when it comes to money.

I guess we can all be happy that the 'Imagine' series of games will live on. LOL

Metroid Prime Trilogy is actually a specially packaged, "Collector's Edition". Back when it was announced as discontinued, an upcoming "regular" edition was rumored. That was quite a while ago (6-7 months?), so who knows.

I just got this today at Sam's Club for $8.81

If you have one near you try there and maybe get a good deal.

Don't trust gamestop when they tell you a game has been discontinued. I was looking for mario galaxy around 6 months ago and they told me it had been discontinued as well and wanted to sell me a preowned one for $45.00

I went across the street and low and behold there was a whole pile of them at walmart. And I still see it at places today. I almost always use amazon for my games these says. There selection is about the best I've seen.
