I recently acquired a Gamecube. I noticed that every single component is labelled "made in japan" except the controller, which was made in China. I can't verify that the controller is the one originally in the system box.

Does anyone have a USA model "made in japan" Nintendo brand controller (of the indigo/purple color, if it matters)? I am curious if they were all made in China, or if I just got a controller from a later production run.

I have an indigo controller from a near launch console, got it a few weeks after the GCN launched, and it says made in China.

All my other controllers say made in China as well, though that is the only solid indigo controller I have.

My black and spice orange controller are also made in Japan

I have the indigo (which came with my GameCube) and the orange controllers, both North-American model, and both say "Made in China".
