I created this thread to see what kind of music people are making with their Korgs. Whether it's an old school Korg or even the Korg DS-10 or even the new +. By the way what's the difference with the +? Do I need a DSi to use that one?

I have made some songs on Korg over the past few months. Some of them need some major tweaking and things like that. I will share a link to them here soon. Hopefully some of you guys have some links to post so we all can get some ideas or listen to other people's works and pass some advice around.

Also, any Korg advice would be good too. I feel like I am learning something new everyday. The DS-10 is quite powerful for such a small program!

Anyone have any old school Moogs or Korgs? I would love to have a real one, but the DS-10 seems to work well and sounds very similar.

So let's hear it fellas!!

I'm tired of the same old Korg music on Youtube, I know there's got to be some new/better stuff out there.

NOTE: If you don't know how to easily record your Korg music from your DS just purchase an audio patch cable (looks like a headphone jack on each side), and plug that into the input on your sound card. Run a freeware program called Audacity to record - it works well. I am gonna get a splitter so that I can run both of my DS's through the input. Hopefully it will mix it all well enough, we'll see I guess. I really need a mixer.

That sounds cool. Kind of has a Rammstein sound to it? Let's hear it!

I've not made anything really complete or that I'd not be embarrassed to share. I tried to cover a Kavinsky song (sort of a daft punk type artist) but it came out kinda wonky.. I'd like to hear what you've been working on though Oldskool.

..and about +

"DSi owners get even more features, as options for the drum machine (one-part to two-part), the analog synth simulator (two-part to four-part), and the number of simultaneous sounds (six to twelve) all double."

from a product description.. I dunno. I have the original.

I used to have the original but i have since lost it and replaced it with Plus. It's pretty much the same unless if you have a DSi (which i dont)

Last night I made a track that is pretty much nonsense I made with the KAOSS pad under different built in programmes for the synth. i didn't know what to do with it so I threw it up on my old myspace: www.myspace.com/officialmichaelsmith

Ignore everything else about it i havent updated it in about a year or so.

Thanks for the information on the +. Don't be embarassed I'm about to post a link up here soon to some of my stuff, and it's by no means any good haha at least I don't think so. I'm hoping that we all can work together to create some ideas and new sounds, and maybe offer some tips back and forth. So if you get the chance share!

My stuff is far from complete either, most if it is just "take 1" stuff. So I still have lot's of editing and things to do. Hey all masterpieces are usually a work in progress right?

I love the Kaoss pad, it's definitely that! Sometimes some pretty cool stuff can come from it though if you keep messing with it. Keep it up man, sounds good. Next time you go in to mess with it I'd change up the beat a bit though so that it's not the same throughout the song. I know you were just experimenting though, we all are! Oh, hey I noticed that yours only plays on the left channel - why is that? At first I was waiting for the right channel to come in, I thought you were playing with stereo effects haha.

For some reason mine didn't record in Stereo. When I recording it using my headphones I had sounds and beats panning back and forth but for some reason the recording came out in mono.. ??

Whoa dude, I gotta hear that! You should post up a link as soon as it's complete (or even if it's not), I always love unique sounding music.

Well here is my garbage LOL

About 5 songs I think of me just messing around all rar'd together (make sure you have winrar or something to unpack it with).

I just kept it in wav format to preserve it's quality.

The style I am aiming for is "chip tunes with heavy bass".. call it what you like.

Make sure to turn the volume up, I've been messing around with bass making, so some of the songs just won't sound as good without hearing the deep bass.

On the song "Ouch my Ears" haha I just called it that because some of the sounds are a little ear piercing to me. Need to soften it up a bit.

This is running off one DS. I have another one with Korg also. I just need to get a splitter so that I can record both together. Or a mixer.

It's hard to make decent sounding stuff with only 6 tracks!

I've also noticed that slowing the BPM down quite a bit makes for some good tunes. Turn it Up, and Close your Eyes and Chillax were both 60-80 BPM I believe.

Comments, criticism are always welcome.

And also keep in mind, that this is all DEFINITELY a work in progress!

Listening to it on headphones from the recording, yeah it's pretty much all on the left. I only did very slight panning between the two synths and the drums pretty much in the middle. There is stuff very faintly in the right channel, but I thought it sounded better when I was fiddling around with it directly from the DS. I'll have to look into it some other time.

EDIT: Ack! I hate when my crappy internet connection does this! It tricks me into thinking something didn't go through when it has.
