I picked up a group of 2032 batteries to replace my backup battery in my Saturns and some of my Dreamcast VMU's. My question is - will I lose all of my save info when I replace the battery in the VMU's? I've got some stuff on there from launch and I'd hate to lose them all. Should I transfer them, and if so, is it an easy process?

Thanks!

The batteries aren't needed for game saves in the VMU, only needed if you want to use the little screen and junk while not connected to the system. I have 2 VMU's and haven't had batteries in them for years and still save to them.

They're also used whenever you want to transfer saves from one VMU to another without the use of a Dreamcast, or so I've heard.

You're right about needing the batteries when connecting 2 VMU's together Kitsune, totally forgot about being able to do that.

Thanks for the info guys! Now I need to look into getting my DC battery replaced soon too. That one looks like a pain...

Try leaving your DC running for about 2 hours to charge the battery up, if that doesn't help with the date/time issue then look into replacing it.
