I see fans of all of these on here, but what do you prefer to play on?
Personally, I'm a console gamer, but in the late 90s I was into PC gaming, and preferred the arcades in the early 90s.

Portable annoys me because I don't need it to be portable. I play that crap at my house. on a tiny screen. :(
arcades are fun but too expensive...
PC is alright but most of the games these days suck a fat one...
console is where I like it.

All I need is a PC, Civ 4, and that old Microprose Magic the Gathering game and I'm set for life.
Portables suck. I'm wanting to play the new DQ XI but not about to play it on that tiny ass screen.

Arcade gaming for me. As much as I love getting together with some friends for some console action, arcade just has too many unique advantages over console games:
Between the moving cabinets for Space Harrier and After Burner and such, the exclusive games that'll never truly get ported perfectly like Tron, Discs of Tron, Virtual On, the high score competitions, and the great satisfaction of schooling a stranger in a fighting game a couple of times, or four random guys getting together for a game of NBA Jam. Not to mention the overall better stick-and-button controls versus clumsy controllers.
And there's something that feels good about being in a loud, dark, hot place with a bunch of neon lights glowing. It's just magical.
Good times, good times.
Console gaming is the heart and soul of video games for me. It's like no other or perhaps, it's on par with PC these days. :band:

I voted arcade but PC is actually my #1. (Didn't look through all the poll options before slapping the Vote button.) I'd have to rank my votes PC, arcade, console. There's some good handheld games but for me most of them are on the original Game Boy, or they're ones I don't own yet (I enjoyed Advance Wars as much as I could play it).

Console. As much as I love arcade games, nothing beats a great immersive experience. You can't achieve the depth of a great console game, in an arcade cabinet.

I would normally say consoles, but this past year or so I've really been playing the handhelds a lot. They are just so conveniant.

Console is primarily all I have ever played, though I really enjoyed pc and portable games at times.

I voted for console, considering that I've spent the most time on those throughout my gaming life. I loved arcades back in the late 80's/early-to-mid 90's, but now all they're all just deluxe racing/shooting games. Fun, but totally interchangeable. I do have portables, but they go unmolested. But for most of '09, I was pretty fixated on all the PSP hacking that I was doing...

unless I have to poop, I don't often find them convenient, lol.
I'm mostly an RPG player, so I am usually gearing up for an extended session in a comfortable chair. Having to look at a doofy screen doesn't please me.
Though, with the DSi XL, it is not so bad anymore. Thankfully the PSP can go to the TV.
Its a shame the DS cant do this due to the DS concept.

Well in my case, I did a lot of moving, so my consoles were in storage. So the DS and the Nomad was basically it for a long time. By the time I actually moved into my own place, the trend just sort of continued. It's nice to sit on the pot and play some Tetris DS online. Or while waiting in the doctors office to bust it out and play some Nanostray.
And sometimes, I like to be in the living room with my GF, she likes to watch TV shows that I am really not interested in, but if I am playing a handheld then we are both in the room at the same time which is always nice. And we are both occupied.
I also just find it easier to play. Just grab it, power it up and you are good to go. Much easier than turning on the TV, turning on the stereo, changing the video mode (if you can remember which one it was), finding the game, popping the game in the console, grab a controller, plug it in, etc, etc.

I have to say handhelds, closely followed by console. Handhelds work way better with the way my day pans out with lots of small amounts of time to pick up and play for 5-10. It is more difficult to sit down in front of a TV with my consoles.

Console's for me, that's what I started out with back in the NES days. I do like other types but console's is what I've always mainly played.

Console, due to the fact they have a wide variety of games, handhelds on the other hand,I only play Pokemon on them.
PC, I'm more into the classic games like Half-Life,Starcraft,Age of Empires,Doom,Blakestone,Wolfenstein,Carmen Sandiego (ROFL) stuff like that, the newest game I've played is Portal,so eh.
Arcade,if I had my own of course I would play them,no one around here has arcades anymore or charges a butt-load to get in to play them.
Other...phone games are alright when your super bored and don't have a handheld.

Console for me. The only arcade cabinet I have is the original Mario Bros. While it's nice collectors item, it gets old after a while.

Portable. However I also include things like the Nomad, FC Mobile, TurboExpress and such within the lot of handlelds like the Gameboy and Lynx. The simple reason is that they can be pulled out and played virtually anywhere, anytime.
