View Full Version : Recommended TV stands / console shelving?

I figured this might be an appropriate sub forum to ask since we had a discussion on game shelving. I need to get a new tv stand for my room - my current one it OK, but I dont like how it attracts dust like mad (all that tempered glass and metal I guess), and how the completely open back exposes all my ugly wires (I try to organize and tie them up well, but theres only so much you can do with so many components hooked up).

I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a tv stand that...
a) has room for my 7 consoles, my xrgb and scart switch (My tv is wall mounted, so I can use the top of the tv stand for consoles if need be)
b) probably wood or something else that doesn't get dusty as hell after a week (or at least hides it well)
c) fully enclosed (well, I guess front doors are optional)
d) around $100 at most?

I don't live anywhere near an ikea, so unless they have good shipping options thats kinda out =/

I have via their website - almost all of their stuff around 100 dollars is either shitty glass/metal monstrosities or they waste half of their space on dvd storage. I dont understand how I can buy cheap and basic as hell shelving but when it comes to tv stands I have to spend $300 for a simple fucking box shape.

I went through the same stage that you are going though, and I ended up getting chrome wire shelving, the same type used for food pantries (don't laugh). It can hold a lot of weight, is adjustable, and you don't really have to dust it since it's chrome. As far as it being enclosed, well it's the total opposite of that; I needed room for all the cords. My TV does not sit directly on the shelf because I liked the little stand it was on, but the adjustibility of the shelves allowed me to completely surround the TV. The price was about $70 at Target, but with the way I did it I needed to buy several of them and hook them together.

Here's a photo of my unorthodox setup.
