I was thinking about using the ethernet cable that came with my Xbox 360 to hook it up to my wireless labtop which is wirelessy connected to my router. Then starting up X Link Kai to play online. Might be a noobish question but it does sound plausible to me, just Microsoft might have some wierd encryption on it or something.

I did this all the time before it became a hassle and I just bought a wireless adapter.
Step 1: plug ethernet cord into Xbox and into your laptop
Step 2: disable firewall
Step 3: enable internet sharing
Step 4: access Xbox Live
Now you are all set.

Thanks! I would rather go through the hassle of doing that then paying $50 a year.

Well you still need to pay $50 a year in order to play on Xbox Live, but you don't have to pay for Microsoft's ridiculously overpriced wireless adapter.

I can use the Xbox Live silver membership to download demos and etc.,
&
I can play online with X Link Kai.
I think I'm in the clear for now!

Could also try bridging the wireless and LAN connections. Depending on your OS, go into network settings, select both the wired and wireless connections, right click and select bridge. That's the way I do it, works well for me.

Creating a bridge will give you just 1 IP address for the bridge, not two separate ones for the wired and wireless connections. Depending on your network setup you may need to assign an IP to the bridge if your router/modem doesn't automatically do so.

I do this. It is a hassle sometimes, but I would rather not buy one of those damned wireless adaptors.

I tried it last night, had some problems at first but I finally got through.
Today I'll make that Xbox Live account.
And is it true that when you first sign up Microsoft gives a month free, i can hardly believe it because i know they won't give something for nothing but I'll take it if it is.
Not trying to make this topic into something that it is not but when I went to GS to buy Halo 3, I picked the one that had a unused 48 hour trial in it because I didn't know about the free month, when i bring it up I see that she switches the whole game for one that's in the shelves behind the register, me being me i walk out but i go back in asking for a better disc just to bust her chops a little, no 48 hour trial you better give me a damn good disc!
The first disc had smudges on it from top to bottom so it was not like i was saying something that wasn't truthful.

^ Yeah, the free one month is true. Surprisingly, by creating new accounts, you can get 3 free months (albiet all on different accounts)
