It's like they took The Simpsons Arcade game and River City Ransom and created some good wholesome retro love.

Yay:

Do you have an Xbox? They don't mention it much- but I guess it comes out end of Aug on 360. It's only a timed exclusive on PS3 from what I understand. I have a PS3- but I do most of my gaming on my Xbox, so I was a little sad when they announced this first.

Go figure :) Now all I have to worry about is that Dead Nation game :P

Love the comics, can't wait for the movie, can't wait for this game! Anamanaguchi did the soundtrack for the game (awesome), and Paul Robertson did the sprite artwork (also awesome)!

Glad to see the companies paying attention to the public. Focusing on content over aesthetics. I really rather have a well done 16 bit game than a crappy 32 or 64 bit game. I think they are pushing the envelope on DL content. This is the future of video gaming.

Also, there's a "Zombie Hoard mode" that you can play by entering an good ol' fashioned controller code at the title screen. It's down, up, right, down, up, right, down, up, right, right, right. Yup, the code is "dur dur durrr" haha.

It's available for download.

I tried the demo, and while I found it a bit repetitive (first level was a bit too long), I really enjoyed it.

Thinking about picking it up. $10 too...hmm

I bought it. The first level is long but the second is short. I think the first is long because it's the one with the shops and there are a lot of them.

All of the old beat em ups were repetitive as well, and this game has a ton of references to other games, like the Alpha 3 opening.

I have never read a Scott Pilgrim comic so I don't notice any of the comic references but I'm sure they're in there.

Good game so far, got to act 2 and it changes the pace up nicely, I have a pretty major gripe with the game though, it has crashed my system 3 times, the audio cuts/glitches out at times and sometimes the act won't even start unless you press the psn button.

Great little game, fun as heck, but ruined by some stupid ass glitches, really don't see how they could release it in this state, bullshit. It needs to be patched FUCKING NOW.

Was totally ready to buy this game day one.If would have been my first 1200 point purchase ever... Then I found out there is no online co-op. I'll pick it up if they ever patch it include such a no-brainer feature, but have no interest in throwing Ubisoft money until they do so.

For a $10 dollar game, is it THAT necessary, I mean it's not like your paying $30 bucks for it.

I think the concept is awesome, although the concept of the movie confuses me. I've never read the comics anyway though. When this drops on Xbox, I will bring my unit to my moms and download it.

It's not "necessary" but the precedent has already been set umpteen times over with similar titles (TMNT, Final Fight, Castle Crashers, etc.), while the game itself looks fantastic - lacking the online net code is a no-go for some who don't care for playing a beat em up solo and may not have friends local who would want to sit down and play through something like this.

Being a huge River City Ransom/Kunio Kun fan I'll buy the game when it gets patched for online multiplayer ... and from what I've read the only reason it doesn't have it now is because the game needed to hit a release window with the movie. Online should come later.

I've been putting a ton of time into this game, and it pretty much is RCR. Though, multiplayer shouldn't be that big of a deal until later, because it takes quite a bit of time for you to really get your character to a powerful enough level. You really can't just go through the game and beat it. You have to replay levels so much that having friends with you during initial playtime is just a nuisance. Like RCR, the game is built to be a a good solo adventure.

I never read the comic, but the game is fun, the movie turned out to be awesome, and I love the music from the game. So many video game references throughout.

Brilliant brilliant stuff. Game is now on my must buy list, even without online multiplayer.

Maybe this is just me, but I'll spend way more time playing multiplayer than single player. Examples: Call of Duty, Fable II, BlazBlue, Left 4 Deads... Maybe your beat-em-ups dont require skill or strategy to play, but they're exponentially more damn fun as more people join in.

Maybe I'm just remembering actual arcade units, and the first time you play Double Dragon with your younger brother (he's actually decent and doesn't totally suck anymore). Or what about Sunset Riders with all four people? X-men on a double-wide cabinet with five or your friends, and Daytona USA with seven strangers?

How about Scott Pilgrim with three of your online buddies? You're telling me this is not somekind of small milestone in your gaming life just waiting to happen?

Everyone that doesn't buy the game until it's fixed is keeping $15 from Ubisoft (assuming it ever will be). That's speaking with your wallet to make things right next time, so companies don't add a note to their operating manual:

"Releasing a game without online co-op is acceptable"

Frankie_Says_Relax

It's only $10 on PSN.

Played it for a few hours yesterday.

It's a very very competent beat em up with a huge debt owed to River City Ransom ... up to and including how confusing buying items is (it's never clear what any of them will do without trial and error purchases) ...

and as much as I do see the appeal as a single player game, I can't wait for it to add an online multiplayer component. Like any similar game, 2-4 players is the way to go.

Like others have said, the lack of multiplayer kind of turns me off, but I very rarely play multiplayer in any games besides Uncharted 2 so it doesn't matter to me much in the end. I'll be purchasing this game when I get the chance to.

I guess I may be in the minority around here, but a game like Scott Pilgrim plays different than your standard beat em up, requiring tons of grinding. It's too slow-paced for the people I played local co-op with to get excited.

Maybe when the characters are leveled at an acceptable level and you haven't gotten bored of the few levels, then maybe co-op can be redeeming.

Man, after getting the Bionic Arm upgrade from Wallace's Secret Shop. I've been plowing through the game. I started off playing as Kim, then switched to Scott. This is game is incredible. It puts me in the mood to go back and play some old school beat 'em ups.

Played the demo on Supreme Master difficulty.

One problem I have with the game is really how slow it is. Every time either you or the enemy is knocked down it's a good 10-20 seconds before you or they get up. All enemies except those purple haired ones that instantly get up I can get in two running slides once I knock them to the ground, some of them I can get in three.

Also you can infinite an enemy to death in the corner making some of the harder enemies fairly easy if there's only one left or you get them bunched up. Uppercut them and throw punches and then dash forward before you are pushed back too far to hit them. Smaller enemies you can pick up off the ground, throw while in the corner, then infinite them so you don't have to wait for them to get back up.

The music is okay and I like how it changed in the middle of stage.

It's decent, but if I ever want to play again the demo will work just fine. What's the full game going to unlock? Different backgrounds, different music, different bosses, and the same enemies.

Very fun game, but it needs to patched badly, they sure did not playtest this game well enough. There's a ton of invisibility glitches prevalent in an otherwise very fun game. Two I've noticed:

Shooting an enemy high up into the air with an attack and having them land off-screen will disappear, which makes you unable to progress to the next screen.

During multiplayer, if two people enter the subspace zone and one is left behind, then that one person will be treated as if he's a ghost. You can still move around and scroll the screen, however you aren't visible. It's ridiculous.

Just got the game, and its great! I plowed through the first level, and beat the boss on the first try. It’s a great game, plust you can do combos with weapons. I love how you can punch a ball back multiple times to do a combo like attack. Also picking up an enemy and using his as a weapon is classic. I feel it’s the best $10.00 I have spent on the PSN.

It's out on 360 now! Finally got to try it out, and yeah, it's fantastic. Really captures the humor of the comic, as well, like with Kim's Knives assist...

Definitely recommend at least getting the demo.

Game definitely looks fun, but I wanted to be able to play it with my friends. Things like jobs and wives and kids make it pretty tough for us to get together with any regularity. Online play makes it so much easier.

Played most of the demo, was really fun. The only problem I have with it is the long dely when you or the enemy is hit, and fall on the ground. I see many of you agree, but other than that, great game!

I just beat the game yesterday for the 1st time and I think that "air juggling" was intentional, not a "delay" as some have put it.

Also, as you level up (way beyond what's possible in the demo) you get attacks which can straddle and pummel an enemy that's been knocked down.

Other than that, FUCK that game is brutal for one player to beat on their own.

If anybody intends to do it be sure to max out your character level (16) and buy the max number of extra lives allowed from Wallace's shop (9).

I found the game to be pretty easy once you pay off Scott's late fees at the video store. Everything is $4.95, and you can buy both 1-ups and a video that boosts all your stats by +10. The only trick is getting the money together, but you can farm the subspace corridor and pinatas on level 5 for like, 15 minutes and have it all together.

Of course, I was also playing on the easiest difficulty, but with maxed out stats, even the hardest difficulty is manageable.

AH. That's what the late fee does. I knew it'd be something epic but I never checked once I was deep into a groove on the game.

I probably only spent a few hundred dollars more via Wallace's shop on 1UPs, and a quick run through of area one will net enough cash for 2 1UPs.

While I welcome a Super Dodgeball type add-on, the fact that this game still hasn't rolled out an online co-op patch is pretty silly.

There are plenty of examples of comparable titles that do it and do it well (Castle Crashers, TMNT Arcade, Final Fight Double Impact, and a bunch of other arcade and console beat-em-up ports on both consoles) ... and considering that this is a Download ONLY title, it's not like the userbase can make the excuse that they never go online ... sure, they may never play online co-op, but if they have the game they ARE connected.

My fingers are crossed for online co-op in time for the Blu-Ray/DVD release of the film in November.

Well online co-op isn't coming in the upcoming patch, and it's unlikely Ubisoft is going to put more resources into the game to add it in, so...
