What is with you Americans and September 9?
That's weird that three consoles from three different developers were released on Sept 9 (SNES, PSX, DC)

Looking at the lists, it's interesting to note, that alot of systems were released in August and September, but lately everybody is releasing stuff in November.
What's up with that?
I think that it has to do with wanting to get the systems out, and not miss another XMAS season, but not releasing them in September, because they don't feel that they have enough quality games to hold people through all those months to XMAS.
It will be nice when somebody takes the time to make enough good launch games to come out in September like all the old systems used to.

Nintendo Famicom - 1981 (supposedly; the keyboard certainly came out in April '83)
MSX - '83 (no idea on the month)
MSX2 - '85
x68K - '87, new variants released until at least 1995
Harder than anything to track the months for those things.

Sega Saturn - May 11th, 1995
That has to be one of the strangest release dates of any major, major system in the United States. Usually video game systems come out in real late August or September. Sega thought that they could get a bunch of extra sales, by jumping out real early.
