I person think that on old skool consoles, the music was amazing, even if it did'nt sound realistic so please put disccuss! :-D
Personally, my favorites are:
Vampire Killer - Castlevania (series)
Jungle (Level 1) - Contra
Super Mario World Theme - Super Mario Theme
SMB2 Overground Theme - SMB2
Moon - Duke Tales
Song of Storms - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Pollyanna - Mother (series)
Grabbag - Duke Nukem 3D
Underground - Super Mario Bros. (series)
Birobuto - Super Mario Land
Megaman 2 Theme - Megaman
Megaman 3 Theme - Megaman
Not in any paticular order.

Looks to me you just like NES video game music, try to broaden your horizon and branch out to other 'old skool' consoles.

Not really OST, but the best end song I've ever heard belongs to "Small Two of Pieces" in Xenogears.
I love that song. There is so much energy in it, that no other song has had the effect this one has had. Sure, I love the ending songs that Jennifer Stigile used to sing, but there are no where near "Small Two of Pieces". At least for me.
I have to go with these:
Unreal tounrement 99
X-men 2 clone wars(sega mega-drive)
Doom
Quake
Unreal
EArthworm Jim 1,2
Starcraft
C&C Tiburium sun

I only like the first level's music in Doom. I hate playing Doom on the 32x,
it makes my ears bleed. Any Kirby is game has epic music, ::this a prover fact::. Also I liked Earthworm Jims Music, But I couldn't get past the first level U.U. I wanted to mention this eariler in the first post, but i couldn't choose what music I liked the in it so I didn't bring it up...Sonic CD...Yes. I also like the origanal Tetris on gameboy. I got Tetris DX, think it'd be awesome but it sucked cause I need russian sympones to line up blocks.
That's a lot of typing.

Anybody else familiar with Commodore 64's Zak McKracken & the Alien Mindbenders? The opening theme to that game gets stuck in my head pretty often...

This!
Xenogears is the only game soundtrack I have ever gone out and bought, it was mostly for this song and the music box version with the same Melody.

Yeah for sure, and Tass Times in Tone Town (Activision), excellent.

Even though probably nobody played it, I was a big fan of Thunderfox for Genesis, and the entire soundtrack set the mood for the game, which was a gritty, Rambo-esque platformer.
Also, El Viento had a pretty great soundtrack also.

Metal Squad!:rocker:8-) Best piece of video game music I've heard. Well, from the Sega Genesis, at least.

I recently played through Ys III for the TurboCD and came to the conclusion that it has the best soundtrack I've ever heard. There's only one track, a PSG song, that is not absolutely amazing. Even then, it's only heard for less than a minute tops. Especially great is the song that plays in the volcano dungeon.

Saw someone mention Chrono Cross...Chrono Trigger's music was MUCH better IMO. I especially like Magus' Theme

Always hated Shadow of the Beast for being clunky and frustratingly difficult but find myself playing it fairly often due to the awesome soundtrack.

No way, Chrono Cross's soundtrack was miles ahead of Trigger's soundtrack.
Also, Final Fantasy (NES) has some of the catchiest tunes on the system IMO.

I'd have to go with Song of Storms.
