So I stumbled across this game tonight while browsing the Indie games. It was developed by Yuzo Koshiro's studio Ancient with music by the main man himself.

It's a fun throw back to 8-bit NES days, complete with chiptune music.

The game seems to be built around local multiplayer as playing it by yourself is pretty brutal.

Check out Ancient's ad for the game on their site (be sure to look at both the American and Japanese versions of the page! LOL ): http://www.ancient.co.jp/~game/mamotte_knight/en.html (http://www.ancient.co.jp/%7Egame/mamotte_knight/en.html)

Protect Me Knight is a fantastic game... provided you at least have one other person to play with. Otherwise, the game is good but it's punishingly difficult.

Looks like it could be a fun game but I have no one local to play with

It's a lot of fun, but it does definitely benefit from having more than 1 person. Also a weird thing was having it boot up in japanese the first time I played it, then a patch came out to put it in english and I haven't seen the JP title screen since.

+1 to this- it's very fun, but impossible to finish with 1 person (unless maybe you play on easy?). It's so far the only indie game I've paid for the full version of... $3 well-spent IMO.
I don't know if it's fair to classify this as an "indie" game since it's done by Ancient (their staff's worked on games like Beyond Oasis and the Streets of Rage series), but I digress...
Fun, humorous game full of high-def 8-bit goodness.

Yeah, this game is great with 2+ people. My boys and I have sat down and played it together. It's controls are simple so you can even play with small children.

Definately one of the neatest XNA games.
