So, seeing the 360 thread about collecting, I wondered if anyone was collecting PS3 games?

I'm currently at 212 (229 now) PS3 titles, doesn't include what I have downloaded from PSN.

This could be higher, but I'm waiting for more games to drop below $15

I don't buy PS3 games just to 'collect', but I can't pass up any clearance games that I might eventually someday kinda like to play. Just counted and I have 122 retail PS3 games. Paid $3-$15 for most of them. ~75% are still sealed. Probably have about 30 PSN downloads too... most purchased during PSN sales using cut price PSN point cards. I spend more time playing the PSN downloads than retail games.

While I don't have a "head count" on my PS3 games I'm sure it's over 100.

In general I tend to buy the bulk of my cross-platform console software on Sony systems as (until recently anyway) they've done the best job of maintaining backwards compatibility in their software library.

Even cross-platform DLC games I prefer on the PSN due to their 5-copy DRM.

Yea, well Target/K-Mart/TRU all were great for getting games cheap. Although they do not clearance games as much as they use to in my area.

I've purchased a few games for it whenever they've been on clearance but I've sold most of those on ebay. Same here, I only buy games that I will actually enjoy and play. I'm only at around 20 or so, and the only other PS3 games I plan on picking up in the near future are Gran Turismo 5 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Most of my consoles I have 25 or less games for max, with the exception of PS2. I don't collect just for the sake of collecting A) because it gets too costly after a while and B) I just don't want that much stuff sitting around.

Yeah, I'm in the "games I want to play" group. I'm of the mindset that current generation is always expensive to "collect" for. Right now around here PS2 is where my collecting dollar is spent. When this gen is next gen I'm sure I'll be all over PS3 collecting.

I always buy the games on their best platform so I will never buy any first person shooter on a console, PC is where it's at

MGS4, Demon Souls, Uncharted, Tony Hawk Project 8, and Brutal Legend (the last two were on clearance for virtually nothing).

I would probably play more RPGs on the PS3 if I wasn't so caught up in the whole online gaming world. I play a lot of MW2 and I never thought I'd get into FPS on console, but damn...it's addictive when you have a ton of friends playing at the same time.

I'll buy FFXIV when it's released on PS3 just because most of my friends will be playing it already on PC or buying it with me. I'd probably buy it on 360 if it was being released though. I can't believe I'm even saying that, but it's true.

I absolutely believe that the hardware/software on the PS3 is superior, but the 360 just has more things going for it if you have a ton of friends who are on Live. If you would have told me that I'd have 50+ 360 games and only 5 PS3 games 4 years ago, I would have laughed in your face.

Just remembered! I picked up Batman: AA CE complete for $25 from a pawn show a few weeks ago...even though I beat the game on the 360 I never owned it. Guess that takes me up to 6 PS3 games.

I just got my PS3 a few months ago. I've been buying whatever we have at our store for cheap. I'm up to 10 games now.

When it comes to PS3, I'm only buying exclusives. Anything that's on 360, I buy it there. Though I may make an exception with Mortal Kombat, so I can have Kratos.

That pretty much sums up my entire experience with the PS3 save a few games that came with additional content such as Arkham Asylum. My PS3 is basically a blu ray player that also happens to play PS3 games.

The best time to buy would be shortly after the next system comes out, and everyone is dumping their PS3 stuff for PS4. Places like Gamestop will be overloaded with 3$ games just like PS2

I am very selective when i purchase PS3 games and even that way I have 45 games !!!. Those games are the best of the system in my particular tastes, games like Demon's Souls, Uncharted, Killzone 2, Yakuza, Heavy Rain ... etc

And I am hunting for at least 10 more this year :D

I'm not really trying to collect for the PS3 but I do have the most games for it out of the 3 current systems at the moment at 59 (for comparison I only have 17 360 games) so I guess in a way I'm subconsciously collecting for it. It's just that I perfer to get all my multiplatform games on the PS3 especially if I'm interested in the online aspect of the game.

Very true skaar but you better believe I pick up those cheap PS3 games whenever possible. Also, as I noted in my first post on the first page, I've ran thru some 10-20 PS3 games already but have sold them all except the exclusives I wanted to keep.

I just closed in on 300 titles, but Target/Toys R u/ect...are not putting games on clearance like they use to in my area.

The only time I pay full price for a game, is if I'm going to play it. Otherwise I will pick it up when it drops to $10 or less.

I'm up to 159 titles(only had my ps3 one year), just updated my list tonight, I'm not really going all out for ps3 games, just for games I've wanted to get but didn't own the system for it, so basically catching up on the older good games, and trying to keep up with the newer releases I want.
I am up to 1,512 ps2 games and finally have all the ps2, 3 & 2 pack sets, from that topic you started a few years ago. I do need the other version of the DMC 3 pack though, that being the black box version. You ever get the sega pack? It was in stock a few months ago on amazon/gamestop for like 20 bucks, iirc.

I think I am going to try for a complete set, but it will take forever. Unless it's a must have for me (e.g. Battlefield 3, Metal Gear Rising, and a few others), I am trying to abide by the following rules for obtaining games:


1. Goozex trades
2. Larger eBay lots where the dollar cost average is <= $12
3. Yard Sales, fleas,forum sales where I can get the games below $12 or so.
4. Free games on Amazon (Amex points/trade-in points)

I'll probably pick up a lot more stuff at the end of this gen, whenever that will be (I hope it's not soon). I am only obtaining 360 exclusives for that system now, and getting everything else on the PS3. I just traded a bunch of 360 on Goozex, a few trade-ins to amazon, and sold a few on half.com.

I tend to only buy exclusives for my PS3. I just find them to be higher quality games for the most part. I have a few 3rd party games, but they're far and few between. I have a small collection of around 25 games since I got the system in late 2007. I just want to have a small collection of my favourite games on hand that I actually play, I'm not one of these people who will go out and stock up on an ass load of games just because they're cheap, a) because I don't have the time to go through and play 50 or 100 games, b) I just don't want that many games lying around, and c) it gets too expensive after a while.

I suspect that the Japan exclusive Collector's Edition of the ICO/Shadow of Colossus Collection will be considered a rare item in the future. It seems to be very limited as every time Play Asia dot com puts it up for pre-order, it sells out in minutes. And they have only offered it twice since the collection was announced.

That's an awfully big investment, considering the price of games goes way down before it starts going back up. You do play some of them at least, I hope.

Why did you buy the 360 version of FFXIII? It's superior on the PS3, with a higher resolution.

I have 36 titles on the PS3. I've bought most of the exclusive PS3 titles and a handful of the multiplatform titles that I found on the cheap. Yeah, I have more titles on the 360, but I sort of like the PS3 better; It's probably because I paid $500 for a BC 60gig PS3 before they were gone, and didn't buy a 360 Elite until about 5 months later.

I usually sell my PS3 games when I've finished with them but I have several sealed games I've bought over the past two years during Black Friday ($5-10 each games usually).

Hopefully in 5-6 years some of those will double or triple in value.

Not counting the sealed titles, I have a measly six games for the system right now. It's usually less but I took advantage of the GameStop 50% bonus promotion several times this month.

I have about 7 PS3 games.... I have about 30+ 360 games because I enjoy the 360 far better, and my dad has some shooters of his own that he plays the crap out of... Maybe in 10 years I will collect for the PS3.

I don't even collect for PS2 yet. I should start really soon. Seems like a really good time.

I have about 60 PS3 games and 150 360 games. I wont really start collecting for PS3 until PS4 is out and I can get games for rather cheap prices.
