Hey, ending up gutting my Golden Axe Arcade cabinet in favor of setting up a a mame machine. Got all of the parts but I'm having a problem wiring the vga cable to the monitor. I have the RGB soldered together and the ground and the V-sync connected. But on the board, there are also inputs for V- and H-(+) sync. When I power it up I definitely hear a difference in the hum from the monitor when I plug the cable in and out, but no picture shows up. Any ideas? I can supply pictures tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, got the picture to show up, turns out I was out of the resolution range for the monitor. But now the picture is extremely dark, I can see it but there is no color and it is kind of blurry. Also the screen is scrolling vertically. Would it have something to do with the grounds for the 3 different colors, as I have not connected them to anything because they arent mentioned in connecting it to my monitor.

ArcadeVGA is an ATI Radeon 9200 modified to output it's signal at 15KHz and support a bunch of wacky resolutions. The output voltage is still 1V, where as a game board outputs a 5V signal. Some monitors will accept a 1V signal, but if it's dark that means you need a video amplifier. (The JPAC has one onboard.)

Supposedly Wells Garnder monitors have a potentiometer you can adjust to amplify the signal, so you should search for more info on that.

Read about it at Ultimarc's arcade monitor FAQ. (http://www.ultimarc.com/monfaq.html#monitorcable)

Hey, I got the picture to show up pretty well. I will also be building an amplifier for my setup. But now I have a new problem the screen is divided up in half. I get the right portion of the screen on the left side and the left portion on the right side of the screen. Here are some pictures of what I am talking about. Thanks for the ideas so far.

Here you can better see the duplication.

That is normally caused by a graphics card setting or the monitor settings itself.

Looks like andy from ultimarc thinks its a bad video card. Hopefully going to swap it out soon.
