I'm sure most of you have at one point or another. Tell your story. Did you drop something to find to your amazement that nothing broke? Or was it a bad instance? Once I dropped a 2600 down a flight of stairs at my old house transporting it from my upstairs room to the den. I was horrified at first, but after inspecting the unit and finding not a single break or scratch and then testing it to find it worked perfectly, well, I was more than relieved. Boy they built 'em well back in the day.

I can't count the number of times I've dropped my Game Boy Advance in my old age, my grip isn't as strong as it used to be.
I have a copy of Desert Falcon for the 2600 that I was going to trade, until is rolled down 14 steps and cracked on the very last one >:(
I've had my entire NES collection fall off a shelf once...had to reorganize all 208 at the time... grrrr

I was bringing my top loader NES over to my grandparent's house to play on while my parents went to eat a romantic dinner, and then the NES dropped out of the bin and landed on a solid concrete garage floor. Despite a small crack on it, it still worked perfectly.

I've dropped my game boys from the oldest version up to the advance before, none suffered any real damage. I've also been known to drop cartridges for the NES, SNES, and a couple times, genesis, again, with no harm done.

Several years ago, I was looking for a C64 to replace one I used to have. I had a terrible time trying to find one that actually worked and one day a friend of mine mentioned he had one I could have and he was also sure it worked. So, I ran over there and we dug it out of the garage/storage building. It was really dark and on the way back inside his house I tripped and it smashed on the concrete. It didn't work when we tested it. I don't even think we found all the keys that had popped off.

I smashed my GBA on purpose just to abuse my free repair benefit :)

My disgust with my launch day bought SEGA CD, after 5 months of crap games (except Silpheed) caused me to sell IT all. My SMS with games, The SEGACD and all my Genny stuff, to buy RAM for my new computer.
I didn't come back to consoles till last year.
really. I was that disgusted. I had such high hopes for my $399CDN purchase, and the letdown was colossal.
I have one again now, but I paid far, far less to replace it. =)

Tripped over the power cord of the PS2 and it crashed down, scratched up the Madden 2003 disc that was in there. That game froze every time after that. PS2 still works fine though. LOL

Check this out. One night my wife comes home and finds me in the computer room playing my XBOX and talking to somebody on XBOX Live. I was supposed to clean the house and wash the dishes before she got home, but I got caught up in some League games of NBA 2K3.
Well, she was always pissed about me being on XBOX Live with every free minute that I had, and then she came home to find the house a mess and the dishes still dirty and me talking to some dude accross the country while playing him.
So she totally lost it. She rips my XBOX right out of my Entertainment Center, and throws it down to the ground with some serious force. I thought for sure that it was toast at that point. I was thinking to myself, while looking at it on the ground that there is no way that it could have survived that. I was already thinking about where I'm going to get 200 bucks to buy another one, as soon as possible.
Anyways, we had gotten into such a heated argument after that happened, that I had to leave the house for awhile. When I came back, it was late at night and I went to sleep on the couch. The next day, all day long, I didn't even go into my computer room. I wanted to go in there and to see if it was totally broken or not, but she was home, and I just didn't want to revisit that whole thing. The next day, she leaves for several hours to her Moms house. I immediately go into my Computer room to find the XBOX still lying on the ground, upside down, with the CD tray open. I pick it up, and it has a huge freaking dent on one of the corners. I plug everything back in, and the freaking thing WORKS!
Amazing!
I absolutely couldn't believe that thing still worked. And it's still working to this day.

That thing tumbled like a dervish and shattered into a bazillion pieces when it hit the landing at the bottom. *Sigh*

I dropped my Virtual Boy once, hasn't worked since. Luckily for me I found another one at a yard sale a couple weeks ago. :)

I think I've dropped maybe one or two N64 and SNES carts, but that's about it.

Only Nintendo stuff. When I drop my GBA the battery cover usually pops off and the batteries fly out. After this happens a few times, the battery cover breaks and I put a new one on.
I personally discovered that the N64 bounces quite well on asphalt. Kept on tickin'.

I picked up my first Saturn from a Goodwill with a really scratched Madden disk. One day I handed it to my boss and the disk slipped out as he took it. He managed to drop the Saturn while trying to grab the cd. Anyhow, the console wouldn't work at all after that (it may not have worked completely before).
Then I bought a loose Saturn at a flea market for $15, advertised as working. Later I noticed the controller ports were really mangled. Was able to de-solder the ones from the first unit and finally get one working Saturn.

I've dropped my Game Boy and GBC plenty of times, many of those times on concrete as I got out of the car. They still work to this day. Nintendo does make their stuff to last...

I've dropped games several times.
I always think it's possible to hold 5 boxes in one hand. 9 out of 10 times it IS possible. Unfortunately it's not 1 out of 10 times.
I don't really mind when they are a bunch of common genesis/master system games, but when it's dreamcast... brrrr. those boxes break when you only look at them.

I was talking about physically dropping it, not dropping it as in selling it :)

Was trying to clean a PS1 Intelligent Cube disc with a high speed car buffer . I pushed to hard on the disc and it shot across the room and shattered on the wall. Wouldn't have been that bad , but I had just sold it on E-Bay. :embarrassed: Fortunately the person was cool about it and just took a refund.

i don't drop stuff very often, but one time i had just received a box of nes games that i got in a trade and brought it in to the kitchen to look through them. i had taken them all out of the box and cleaned them and then it was time to add them with the rest of the collection. i decided to stack them (about 30-40 carts) in one tall pile and carry them into the other room like that. i made it about half way and they started getting wobbly and dropped and went scattering all over the floor. :( none of them broke or anything, luckily.

I managed to do that twice (well once my ex-roommate did it once). The second time I did it I scratched the hell out of my Kingdom Hearts game. It was a day after I got it...I was pissed, but kept a cool head. I put it back in the case, went back to the store and told them it was like that when I opened it. LOL Got a new one and my PS2 hasn't given me any problems. Who says miracles don't exist.

My 2600 has fallen down the stairs before. But I swear they made those things out of steel, it had no dents or scratchs and worked perfectly afterword. x_x

Hahaha, I'd be totally cool with it to just because you gave me a super cool mental image of some 'DIY' guy trying to buff the shit out of a disc and watching it fly across the room and shatter.... and the inevitable "Oh shit" that was uttered afterwards.

I had a atari 3600 and it broke down, so i de-screwed it to take a look inside, but couldn't get fixed or even put back together for that matter.
So i got pissed off (i was about age 13) , "dropped" it and jumped on it together with a friend... i'd rather play on it, but smashing it was atleast as much fun.
I know smashing a computer might seems harsh and brutal to most of you... but hey, i was just entering fase 1 of puberty @_@
