Need help with possible trade

Hey guys, I am in need of a little advice. I have a friend who has a copy of Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Legends 2 sealed, he wants to trade me for my Suikoden 1 and 2 strategy guides. I really want these games (I would open them and play them however) but I don't know if I could get off the guides. I know this will ultimately be up to me but any advice would be very appreciated. I wouldn't do it. I think those guides are worth a decent amount now with a LOT of upside potential as more and more are lost, destroyed, etc. The same could be said about the games, but there are many more of those out there.

MML went for between $10 and $25 last week on Ebay. MML2 went for $35 to $50.

Suikoden strat guides went for $40-$50 each.

Did you miss the part about Mega Man Legends 2 being sealed?!? That would make it worth $100+ at least, BINers charge $150 to $200 for it.

I'd do the trade, sell the sealeds and buy the completes with the money. Then pocket the profit and you're good to go!

That seems like a waste of trade if he is going to open the sealed copy. My advice if you do want to play it, buy a used copy. Or what I would do is trade it, leave the original MML2 sealed and then download a bootleg version.

Sorry for any misunderstandings, BOTH the games are sealed and black label, I didn't even think about reselling the sealed and buying used ones to play, good idea. Thanks for all the help so far, my strat guide collection may be two strats smaller. Here are some pics of the games, he is letting me hang on to them until we reach a verdict. Also, the pics may look a little odd because he also has a protective baggie over them.

Wanting to open it does not change the "value" in the trade.

He only wanted to open and play it because he was clueless of it's worth. Some people do get enjoyment out of opening sealed retro games but it is usually a horrible financial decision, especially in this case where the price difference is drastic.

The trade, sell new and buy used approach would be perfect in this case.

WOW, yeah. That's what I want to do with a bunch of sealed games I have lying around -sell them and then get used, open copies. Because I want the games. Just not sealed.

Besides. Uh... they're being traded for strategy guides. And at least in my case? I'd do it right away.

Well I do enjoy playing the games I own, plus a few posts up I did state that selling the sealed and buying used was a good idea. I'm not a sealed collector and don't keep track of pricing for sealed games, but your info is appreciated as I am leaning more toward doing the trade. Another question though is how much a copy of Suikoden 2 with the guide will be worth in the next few years? Since the going rate of a copy of the game is around $90 and guide $60, I can only see the value going up.
