I bought a game gear and 5 games earlier for $25, They told me that the sound doesn't work. Is it possible to fix this? If so how?

You'll probably have to replace the capacitors. Do a search in technical and restoration for links, etc.

I ended up finding a video on Youtube. What are some great Game Gear titles? I'm into action/adventure type games.

Pengo and Bubble Bobble are the only two games I still play for the system, both are well done.

Outside of that list of games I posted there, there's really not much else worth playing on the Game Gear unfortunately. There is a LOT of junk on the system.

Shining Force is great if you like strat-RPGs, as is Crystal Warriors. I really like Defenders of Oasis, but be warned it's a traditional RPG rather than the action-RPG the other two games in the series are. Golden Axe Warrior is also decent. There's also Vampire: Master of Darkness which plays a bit like a Castlevania rip-off. Certainly not as good, but it's the closest you'll get on the GG.

Totally pick up MegaMan on the GameGear, it's a little trickier to find and a little more expensive than your average GameGear game but totally worth it! Same with Ninja Gaiden.

No don't get Mega Man, it's awful! Just a cheap rehash of several levels from 4 and 5 and zoomed in making it hard to navigate. Bad bad game. Ninja Gaiden fares better but is too easy.

I've heard good things about Super Space Invaders, and there's also Devilish which is a good Breakout/Arkanoid type of game. I've only played the Genesis version of Devilish but it originally came out on the Game Gear. I remember playing Deep Duck Trouble on someone else's Game Gear and I liked it, but I never managed to find a copy for myself. Battletoads was also good and slightly different from the NES version.

I actually sold off my entire Game Gear collection awhile ago, I don't regret it. I never used it because of the poor battery life and the screen wasn't too good.

I'd agree with all this.

Defenders of Oasis is a must own if you like RPGs and is my favorite game on the Game Gear. Very fun RPG. The only thing that kind of sucks about it is there's nothing that references what spells and items do in game, so everything is trial and error.

If you like Master of Darkness then also pick up the Master System version. The Game Gear version is the same game but extremely close up and the height of the levels are shrunken down a bit. Castlevania ripoff like mobiusclimber said and not as good but a very fun and solid game.

I thought Chuck Rock was a keeper. X-Men 2 and X-Men 3 are also fun if you liked the first one. They have better character sprites than the original. Oh and if you can find Fantastic Dizzy, there is a port of it on there. It's a puzzle solving adventure where you pick up items and place them in specific locations to get past the traps. Also there are ports of Ristar and Dynamite Headdy for Game Gear.

gamegear! plenty of games to make it worth owning the system. Always liked it better than the gameboys (I didn't game portably much back then, still don't really) it was nice to have color and a backlight

Yeah, I have been wanting one for awhile. $25 seemed like a good price with games and storage case included. The sound will take a bit of work to fix though.

Ninja Gaiden is also pretty good.
If you have any interest in fighting games, Fatal Fury Special is surprisingly good.

You can also get a Master Gear Convertor. It plugs into the Game Gear and allows you to play Sega Master System games on the Game Gear. That way if you have a SMS you've got the best of two worlds. Play carts on the Game Gear and at home on your TV.

I have 2 extra game gears without sound. That mod is easy. That actually helps me out as well. Awesome link

Another +1 for you. The Master Gear is the reason I wanted a GG when I was young. Its worth it for Phantasy Star and Ys alone. Then there's Golden Axe, R-Type, Miracle Warriors and a whole slew of decent titles.

The only downside is the small text. If your GG has a decent screen, you can get away with most games fairly well. Don't buy Monopoly, though...
