View Full Version : 32X display problems (and those damned metal clips)

Picked up a 32X (no box) a couple of weeks ago, and finally got around to trying it out today. The cords and power supply all fit in the Genesis 2 nicely, but when it came to those metal clips, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how they'd fit in, to no avail.

Did a net search, and found that the clips don't actually have to be installed for the 32X to work, which was great for me since I couldn't find any pictures telling me where to install them. So I plugged the 32X in, popped in the one game I've got for it so far, Virtua Racing, and turned the whole thing on.

Right away, I'm greeted with the grainiest looking Sega logo I've ever seen. After I got over the shock, I turned the machine off and tried to push the 32X in tighter, or move its position slightly, but each time it was the same horrible picture.

I know it's not the RF cable I'm using, since with the Genesis it looks about crisp as you get with RF. So my next guess was that those metal clips might help somewhat, but I've still got no idea how to actually fix them in place. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

Try 'clipping' the hooked part along the edge of the open cartridge slot while keeping the flaps pushed open with a finger. It's hard to put into words really and it really is a riddle the first time around.

I could take pics of how they should be located in the Genesis..

I could post/host some here or send you some..
Let me know..I'll check back tomorrow..

Just spent a couple of minutes playing with that idea... At least the way I stuck them, the 32X didn't seem to make it all the way into the cartridge slot.

This may be a moot point anyway, since I'll now be getting AV cables later in the week to replace my RF ones, so hopefully this problem will go away.
