So, I don't know how many of you remember that project a while back to put GTA on an NES engine. Well, over a year later, this evolved out of the project:

So far it's coming to WiiWare, dunno about other platforms. Looking forward to it.

That looks intensely badass. Lots of homages, I see. The TMNT dam-style level looks sweet. The music definitely has a Konami-inspired flavor to it, and the sound effect of the people being set on fire is hysterical.
If this made it out to more than just WiiWare, I'll be happy. I'm sure it won't, though.

Gameplay looks really good. The I am Error reference is pretty cool.

Bit of a bump, but here's an interesting update about how the developers were influenced by Micro Machines' AI

Hopefully it comes to the PSP or DS on UMD or card.
But yeah. Sucks for Nintendo that it was going to be an exclusive and then, as usual, Microsoft buys them off.

From reading the article it hardly sounds like MS bought him off, it sounds like he just realized that there is a greater profit potential on multi-platforms

The real shame is that Mr. Provinciano apparently scuttled all his other retro projects in the process for good.

I was planning on purchasing this on WiiWare immediately after it was available, but now that it's coming to XBLA, I won't have to. Sorry Nintendo, I'm not buying this game twice.

You means controls, but a controller would be kick ass.

Not really much of a retro game if it uses more than two buttons.

Indeed. It doesn't look like his old site is around anymore... I seem to remember reading about a lot of interesting things on there.
