What is the best pick of all the various 360 models/revisions? If I were to go buy one, which one should I look for? Which is the most reliable with the fewest instances of the RRoD? How reliable are the new "slim" units?

Buy a new Arcade with the Jasper chipset or a Slim.

The Jasper (which are the new Xbox Arcade units) have proven to be very reliable according to most reports (I can also speak from my experience that it is cooler, quieter than the 1st gen 360 I had that went bye-bye because of RRoD). They made a host of changes, for the better in terms of it running cooler and more reliably. The Slim takes these changes and improves a bit more on them.

I think you will be good either way with those. Just stay away from any refurbed old Xbox 360s with the "xenon" chipset, I wouldn't buy one used (ever) as those had the most reported cases of RROD. At this point I can't see retailers still selling those new, so I wouldn't worry about ending up with one.

What about Elite models with the Jasper? Also, what would you say about Falcon models?
