Does anyone know where I could get a small table or stand that I could put my console on so it is elevated off the floor? Something that is maybe 8 to 10 inches high.

Also, is it safe to store games and consoles in plastic bins like you can get at Walmart? Do they hold static electricity?

Avoid this at all costs. The games and plastic will combine and cause a nuclear explosion. Then it will be your fault that half of wherever you're at is blown up.

If you only want something small to put a console on, go to Home Depot, get what you need, and build it. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, does it?

Ikea's "Lack" side tables are great and only cost about $10.

Target has some look-alikes in their "Re" line for around the same price if you don't have an Ikea near you.

And they can make you sterile! That is why the ones at Walmart care called "Sterilite"! LOL

But joking aside, any small table will do. Just make sure air vents are not blocked on either side and you will be fine. Concerning bins, you can place them in those plastic ones, but make sure they are not in the bins while in use. Also, make sure the console gets ample cooling before placing in one. Also, make sure the place you plan to store the bins are not of high temperature.

What is a suitable temperature range?

Also, thanks for all your help!

I would like something with a grated surface for ventilation.

How's this for an idea. A milk crate. They're about a foot, maybe a little more, in height. They're also grated.

Either that or a sewage grate. Might be a little bit dirty, but clean it off, go learn how to weld. Weld some pipes for legs. Perfect.

Don't forget to paint it green so it can have a retro Mario feel to it.

Maybe have consoles right on coffee table? Video switch boxes mounted under top of table. Everything within easy reach of the couch potato gamer.

"You mean I have to lean forward to change games!" LOL

How about using a hammock or a folding lawn chair?

All I do is use the area in or around my TV and TV "entertainment center". It's quite nice, actually- DVD and N64 on top of the TV (30' Toshiba :) ), the area to the TV's left for the 360, the EC's shelves holding the VCR, NES, Xbox, 2600 Jr. and PSX, and the wall mounted shelf above the TV holding my Wii. I said "screw it" to using tables to hold game systems, since you can just bundle the cords behind the TV EC. The only problem is dust, but I found removing the glass doors lessens the dust.

2 stacked shoe boxes. I've also used stacked game cases.
