I have activision anthology on gba which also has about 50 games and I loved that, so I am interested in this. I have no idea if the games they are including on this are any good though.

Too bad you'll have to buy Atari's Greatest Hits Volume 2 next March to get the other half of a collection that we've been sold complete multiple times in the past.

And there's not even anything new in either the arcade or 2600 lineups (Not even Solaris that was absent on some of their earlier compilations and was a nonlicensed first party 2600 title). If they want to resell us the same compilation a couple of times a generation, at least invest a bit into development to emulate a few new games each time.

There are plenty of microprocessor era pre Atari Games coinops that they own. Toss us a couple of these each time around like Monte Carlo, Quantum, Fast Freddie, Qwak, Runaway, Agent X (Cloak & Dagger before that license was applied to the game), 'I, Robot', Food Fight, Fire Truck, their late 70s line of sports titles, Arabian, etc.

Or even better, get to work simulating the classic pre microprocessor era line of Atari coinops. Beyond loose adaptations of Pong and a poorly done port of Sprint 1 on their first failed DS collection, they've never done such a thing.

Are those the 41 games left that they haven't whored out to some other thing/service? I know I could spend DAYS playing atari 2600 slot machine on my ds. Although the Realsports titles are great, do I need all of them? I'm sure the ports/emulation will be good, but I have no desire to play most of those games. Stable linked-play might save this title at the $15 level. Why else would you play Slot Racing?

Why would you not want them? Creating a 2600 emulator means having them be playable is essentially free and this forum post is probably taking up more space on the Digital Press server then the 2600 lineup of Realsports titles will on this collection.

Why would anyone want this company to choose which of their nonlicensed 2600 lineup to put on this collection and which to ignore? It's bad enough it's being divided across two volumes. If I want to play something like Basic Math on a Atari 2600 compilation, I should be able to as long as there isn't a monetary reason for why it was left off the collection. Classic gamers don't need some MBA working for Atari deciding what's worth including of their 2600 lineup and what should be left out.

There's no reason not to include it all besides the obvious exceptions that rely on outside IP (Pole Position, SuperMan, E.T., etc.) or a title that just doesn't work under their emulator (Perhaps that's why Solaris is missing, it pushed the 2600 hardware pretty far and a 2600 emulator needs to be pretty accurate to play it as a result).

3D Tic-Tac-Toe?

Really?

Really what?

They only have a few dozen 2600 releases that can be rereleased without acquiring expensive licenses. Why not include it? It's not like it's inclusion is keeping a better title out of the collection.

Virtually their entire 2600 lineup of non licensed content is going to be on these two volumes. The inclusion of a weak game here and there isn't keeping better games out of the collection so why not include it?
