View Full Version : Chessmaster/New Chessmaster (GB) Differences?

Two games released for the original Gameboy: The Chessmaster and The New Chessmaster.

The differences between these two games is barely noticeable as far as I can tell. Same graphics, sound effects, and options on the menus.

Are there any significant differences? Or did they really release the same game twice?

A quick look tells me there were two games made, but I couldn't tell you what had which title where. Maybe one's a region variant?

They're both US games. The second one was released 2 years later.

EDIT: I now notice that one has Mindscape Entertainment on the front while the newer has Hi Tech Expressions on it. So maybe that has something to do with the new game. But still, why give it a new name?
