I don't want to be stuck with Japanese text. What's a Neo Geo without SNKlish? That's half the fun! :-D
While I'm sure modded systems are nice, they carry a drastic price increase far far beyond my means. Normal US ones appear infrequently and I've got no clue how to tell them apart from the JP model from a picture even if they were plentiful.

Either buy a jp system and solder in a unibios, not that complicated or wait for a modded system to come along on the boards or ebay. I picked up a modded system for 250.00 shipped from jamma-nation-x.com.
If you really want a US system anyway, you cant tell by just looking at the console or the serial. You have to put in a game and look for differences, ie blood color or text.
