Currently testing a CDX

the CD part is working (with a Audio CD or even a Sega CD game, it boots)

However, when i tried a cartridge (got blank screen) or when the Sega CD game try to access what he needs from the Genesis hardware, i have a "disc error"

Smell dead for me....

any chance this *could* be fixable ?

IMO, The Genesis part isnt dead as the Sega CD games run with Genesis hardware. It's most likely a problem with the cartridge to motherboard connection. It may just be a bum cartridge slot which I think is replaceable.

yeah if its giving a disc error, then it can't tell there's a genesis game inserted, otherwise it wouldn't bother talking about a disc at all.

What do you mean by the following:

... when the Sega CD game try to access what he needs from the Genesis hardware, i have a "disc error"
So what works on the Sega CD? just audio CDs? Can you use the Sega CD internal cd player or are you just using the CDX as a cd player?

I think it just needs a new laser a good load of cart solt cleaning and to tip the console off a new backup ram battery.
Its hard to tell with out haveing a look at the system.
I am sure its fixable. to 100%
When i repair this system so far i have had 100% sucess rate of repairs.
So far.
