Apparently, released in May of this year. It's a fan developed movie, but is VERY well done.

How did I miss this? I've been a fanatic for Megaman since the original release!

Nice find. I knew about the trailer for this that was released way back when, but I did not know it was anything beyond that.

The movie was okay, but had a huge plot hole. Dr. Wily knew where Dr. Light lived, so why didn't he ever try to blow up his house? This problem is never addressed.

But yeah, overall the movie wasn't bad. The guy is also releasing a second cut that trims a few minutes off the film. I believe he said it helps it from slowing down in places.

I just got done watching it. I will say for an Indie movie, wow. The soundtrack itself was really awesome.

Also, somebody mentioned a Sonic movie. Is that for real?

You can ask the same question of the games, too.

Having watched the entire thing, all I can say is wow. Give the guy who played Wily a contract. That guy knows how to act. He played the part of a psychopath wonderfully.

It wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be. It's not gonna win any awards but it wasn't too bad for an ultra low budget Indie film. Though Blue's 'Falcoln Punch' to Elec Man made me rofl.

I completely agree. The person that played Dr. Wiley did just a great job acting the part.

I remember the trailer for this. Forgot about it since. So far I've watched the part to Wily's conversation with the computer before he goes to steal the robots.

*edit*

Finished watching.

Yeah, he was actually the best actor in the whole film. He picked up the Wiley persona very well.

I agree, there are plot holes, and some moments that really go WTF, but for an Indie film, I was seriously impressed. Especially the use of CG.

I would rank it up past "There Will Be Brawl".

Watched a good chunk of it last night... wasn't all that impressed with it. I'm surprised a lot of people liked the the person who played the role of Wily... I thought he was highly annoying.

The CG was ok. Better than I can do by any stretch of the imagination, but the fight sequences I think were horrible (could've been due to the person who played Rock), and well... meh. The CG robot masters were very choppy at parts and felt like they were just dumped ontop of the film/video. They looked very out of place to me.

Didn't really pay all that much to the story after the first 20 minutes. Very slow begininning which made me uninterested, so I skipped forward to see the battle scenes and robot masters.

Also, I think the director used the fade in/out to other scenes way too much and quite frequently, as well as some of the angles during dialog seemed to be off as well.

Just my $0.02

Thing is, you seem to be comparing it to high-budget movies with professional crews. This was a couple guys and a few cameras, and some basic CG software. To get to the level you're asking for requires some very high-end kit.

As for Wiley, have you played the original games or followed the series? He's basically spot-on to what the Wiley character is like.

Not to mention some serious $$$$. Most low budget films use less than a few grand, if even that.

And to be honest, if Hollywood did this, they would have probably screwed it up as much as possible. Rockman doesn't really have much of a story other than go kill the robot masters, then go kick Wily's ass. It has more story in the later games, but in the beginning, what most people had to go off of was what was in the manual.

It's just like Mario Bros. Remember what Hollywood did to that? At least this one stayed true to the formula, even if the majority of the movie was back-story and corny fight scenes.

I'm not saying that Wily wasn't depicted good in the movie, I just thought the person who played him was annoying and they could have casted someone better for the role.

As for the CG effects... there are plenty of people out there (especially in the student world) that can craft better animation and effects. And yes, I've followed the original games/series (not X, X2 and so on, but the original NES ones).

I'm not saying that it would have been any better (or worse) as a Hollywood release, because if they're going to stick true to the story line and format, it just makes a terrible movie to begin with. I love the little blue bomber, don't get me wrong.

A low budget movie is considered anything under $1,000,000 these days, but even back in the 70's, late 70's at that, Halloween cost I believe under $100,000 or just around that mark (maybe $150,000), and didn't have much for special effects other than blood and some props. I'm big into low budget horror movies (and low budget movies in general) because the writers/directors put more effort in story wise and production wise because they can't rely on spending a lot of $$ for high end professionals to do the editing/etc due to budget.

This one was done well (film wise, aside from some over used transitions and the lack of good actors), but over all, to me, it wasn't that good. They put more effort into the logos in the beginning of the movie to make them look professional than they did into the CG effects, at least that's what it seems to me.

I really can't see someone creating a low budget model of Wily's castle that doesn't suck, as well as any of the robot masters. I think the people did good in that respect.

Like other people mentioned, Hollywood would have fucked it up. Mario was already mentioned, but how about I mention other movies like Doom, Dead or Alive, and Dragon Ball. Back then, Hollywood was better at making movies than they are now. Now Hollywood is either making a shitty movie or a shitty remake of a good movie/tv series. We might get lucky and they actually happen to make a good one here and there, but that's pretty rare now days(as in rare I mean 99% of movies released now are crap, and seeing as how 10+ movies come out weekly, you'll see one good movie every two months.)
