Oh. My. God. It's happening, for real. Announced at PAX (2K's "big" announcement, an understatement if you ask me) today.

Interesting facts about the game and hilarious pre-order pictures: http://duke.a-13.net/

So, anyone planning on getting this? Worries me that Gearbox is doing this, I don't know if they can pull off a game worthy of the DK title. If it plays like BIA or Borderlands, it might as well have never been made. Might be good, will probably suck, but Duke Nukem 3D is finally getting old after a decade+.

I can't freaking wait.

According to many sources at 3DR, the game was something like 80% complete. Gearbox took up the game at the end of 2009 and has since been completing it and is now just polishing. Mostly it's what 3DR and George B's team did, so I've got confidence that it will at least have that classic Duke "feel" down pat.

Yea, I just read that part.

Hopefully they won't go the Doom 3 route with this. If you stick to the classic formula with updated graphics, people will love it. Especially me.

And watch the sales representative laugh at you when you take it to the store.

Even if I don't have a system that can run it, I'll want to grab it someday just to say that I have Duke Nukem Forever.

(But also I want to play it.)

Jingle cats rule!

Too bad the CD is so darn expensive.

I hope Duke Nukem Forever turns out great, because it it sucks, it will be a sore disapointment...probably of epic proportions.

Here's hoping it's good!

I spy arena boss footage.

I'd cry tears of joy if this game is nothing more than a remake of 3D.

Let me get this straight... You're worried that the guys who made the Brothers in Arms games, Half-Life Blue Shift, and Borderlands (which I enjoyed, anyways) might screw up a game that's been in development for twelve years, scrapped and started over twice, and had been officially canceled pending litigation?

I usually take a wait and see approach with any upcoming game, but lets be real here. Duke Nukem 3D was fine in it's day, but things are pretty different now. Even if the game itself isn't mediocre or worse, it can't possibly live up to anyone's expectations. It's a joke. A cautionary tale.

The game has a button for beer. Press the button and Duke drinks a beer. GOTY

Indeed. Personally, I'm not fond of Borderlands and the last BIA was very disappointing compared to the others in the series. Plus, it's freaking Duke Nukem Forever. This game is the proverbial black cat of the gaming industry.

But you're right. It won't meet expectations, especially to the millions (by now) of people who played 3D or one of the other games. But, if it's close, it's better than Duke Nukem Never.

I guess I'm just wary of yet another nostalgia reboot: our generation's memories have been under assault for the better part of a decade now. New He Man, Transformers movies by Michael Bay, G.I. Joe, A-Team... Not to mention all the gaming franchises that have soiled the bed.

We've got plenty of other, modern, playable shooters right now, some of which have moved the medium forward in ways that makes Duke Nukem 3D look terrible in retrospect, even when compared to it'd contemporaries like Doom and Quake. I just don't see where Duke Nukem fits in anymore when we already have stuff like Bioshock, Call of Duty, and for our neo-retro throwback gameplay, Serious Sam.

This is supposed to be the amazing groundbreaking game that's been in development for 13 years? It looks pretty generic. I also can't seem to help but notice how similar it looked to Halo. If I wanted to play Halo, I'd play Halo, not a vaporware game that has been brought back from the dead. Duke Nukem is badass, I'm sure anyone will agree, but I think how ridiculous the wait was for a new Duke Nukem game has killed the majority of the Duke Nukem fanbase and almost everyone really doesn't care about the games release, especially not now when the market is over saturated with fps games.

I'm sure 2k games thinks that Duke Nukem Forever is going to be a multi million seller because of how well it's known so I don't think they want to throw that chance away and I'm sure they'll finish it to be a somewhat playable/decent game. That's what they're betting on, and why not? You should always bet on Duke. They just better hope that the game doesn't bomb instead.

So after 14 years, they're shoveling the game out to shut everyone up. Good or bad, at least people will stop talking about the game.

I haven't noticed anyone heralding this game as "groundbreaking". Maybe someone else saw that term. I'm just excited to see it's getting made. It'll be a fun play. I'm sure of that at least.

I don't expect DNF to be groundbreaking. I look forward to its release as a break from all these formualic sequels of FPS, who are all trying too hard to be gritty and realistic. I think the timing is perfect for Duke to make a comeback, since the Expendables was a success. Of course DNF isn't going to live up to the hype, but at least it will be a solid entry in the series that will make people remember the golden age of the FPS. Also I hope there's some ridiculous collector's edition lol.

I didn't see anything listed for format. Obviously it's a pc game but during last years legal battle between Take Two and 3D Realms they mentioned a 360 version was suppose to be completed after the pc version. I wonder if thats still planned.

Regardless, no matter what DNF has when(if) it releases, it won't be able to compare to all the Halos, Call of Duties, Fears, Half-Lifes, Farcrys, Crysis and the many other quality modern shooters of this generation. People are only going to appreciate it until they play it for the first time and realize that it took 14 years to make a "supposed" revolutionary shooter that doesn't have any features that outclasses the lastest crop of shooters.

Just reserved the PS3 version. Cannot wait. I'm tired of all these FPS these days trying to pack more and more into the gameplay and everything. I just want to run around and kill things. Hence why Knee-Deep In The Dead is the greatest FPS of all time. Well, a very very close second to Disruptor....

Funny, I'm not a big shooter guy, yet my most wanted games are all shooters. Vanquish, Rage, DNF, and Max Payne 3.

Also I hope there's some ridiculous collector's edition.
If there's one game that deserves it, it is this one.

True. Sometimes I enjoy a nice tactical game and I have plenty of choices for that. If I want a more arcade experience, well, I find myself playing Unreal Tournament or Quake III.

Black, which came out several years ago, is one of the newest arcadish FPS titles that I've truly enjoyed. I hope DNF can give me the same kind of experience.

I still don't believe it is coming out. I seriously don't believe it.

I am waiting until it is on shelves to buy it.

Well, like another mentioned, if there is some insane special edition, I would possibly pre-order that, but that is it.

After reading a few more articles I noticed that they did indeed list the other platforms, something that the OP's article does not.

It sucks to be a shooter fan on the Wii period, especially if thats your only current gen console.
