Anyone play this yet? I played and finished the demo. I had such high hopes for it but it's not nearly as good as I thought it'd be. It's a good game, but I thought it would have been better than Gears of War and Uncharted but it failed to meet my expectations.

I played it and finished on normal yet didn't die once. Its main problem is actually seeing the enemies. If you're somewhat further away like the sniper position at the very beginning which I ran up thinking it was the way to go at first, you can barely see the enemies. If I had trouble on a 40 inch HDTV, I can only imagine the problems people are going to have on an SDTV in the same situation. When you're up close to them then obvious it's no problem seeing them. I think it's because the enemies look so similar to your allies even though red in color and at first I wasn't aware of that.

Another thing is it's so difficult to pick up weapons. You have to switch to the weapon you want to get rid of(that's obvious, then hold R2 ontop of the weapon. Not only are the weapons a sort of see through greenish color, but you can't just hit one button to pick them up, you have to hold R2 for a set amount of time. There are unused buttons, why not use one of those.

The controls are okay, but at the same time kind of suck. Shooting controls are great, and reload is fine, but grenade being triangle and covering being square is just weird. Now while it's a good idea that they differentiated cover and roll as there are some issues that I have with Uncharted 2 you can be a decent distance away and still cover something you don't want to, you literally have to have your nutsack right up on the cover spot to duck into cover. So I don't see why roll and cover couldn't have been one and the same.

The one slow motion system(ARS) while it works fine, in order to activate it you need to roll. Either that or get shot up a lot. Whenever you get damaged it stays active until your boost meter is gone, which sucks. However by getting rid of roll and cover as two seperate buttons, they could make the ARS system as a single button. Try and roll and then aim in order to use ARS while using a sniper rifle. Not only does the sniper rifle have no zoom in zoom out function, rolling moves your position so it's near impossible using a sniper rifle unless you're going the regular speed. Because while you're rolling, your sniper rifle is still seeing the ground in slow motion.

Last problem is if you dash up on an enemy and aim at them over cover, your camera will change from aiming left to aiming right or aiming right to aiming left, completely changing your firing location. You then have to take a couple more seconds moving it left or right a little bit. I mean why change the camera when it's working perfectly fine other than to fuck the player over?

Now although sounds like I'm bashing the game. It's pretty good. The movement is extremely fluid. You aim wherever and it's quick. The cover system works extremely well and you can get in and out of cover quickly. There's actually no issues with the cover system one bit. I'll buy it definitely, but as usually going to wait until it drops in price.

*edit*

Previously placed X as doing nothing. I forgot X rolled. I was thinking O as roll but O does melee, which for some add reason doesn't work some of the time when I try to use it.

Actually, this is the first shooter in recent memory I'm picking up day one. It makes Gears of War look like it's running in slow motion, and actually does some different and interesting things. Plus, there's a smoke button, and that spells dope.

I played through the demo twice, and will probably do so again. I played it the first time, put the controller down, and pre-ordered it Amazon style. Shinji Mikami, you magnificent bastard: you have yet to let me down.

Played through the PS3 demo last night - I LOVE it.

Can't recall the last time a shooter caught my fancy like this.

Mikami-sama, I salute you!

Where did this come from!

Comparisons to Uncharted and Gears of War?! I'm downloading this IMMEDIATELY, dunno how I missed this, I never even saw the demo.

I played the demo a few nights ago. It was ok but not nearly as good as the other games it's been compared to. I'm going to give it another spin tonight but this is another one of those games I'll be waiting for a big price drop before I pick it up because I wasn't that impressed.

It's a skill based action game, much like Bayonetta, and it should be played in that way.

It's not supposed to be played in a safety-first FPS style. Try doing the tutorial, it will help you to understand.

Hey dipshit, don't post a douchebag response like I don't know how to play the game. If you're not right up on the enemy they're difficult to see, and at the very beginning when you get to the sniper rifle position, are you not going to use the sniper rifle.

Hey look guys. Here's a sniper rifle, better not use it because that's not how the game is made to be played. Or atleast according to DouchebaggeryMaximus(MimiNakamura.)

After getting used to the game dashing past and skipping the sniper rifle position is stupid as hell. Going up and grabbing the sniper rifle, blowing up the barrel up top destroying part of the enemies, and sniping the two enemies in those walkers as well as another few enemies takes no time at all and much faster than shooting the up close with the assault rifle or heavy gun.

Regardless. The issues are the same. It's hard to see the enemies any distance away than right next to you. The controls are kindof crappy but mainly just a few buttons and I still think roll and cover should have been the same button so you weren't required to roll in order to use the ARS.

It's quite clear that you don't know how to play the game if you think roll and cover should be the same button. You wouldn't be able to pull off half as many maneuvers if that was the case!

Your analysis is almost as ridiculous as your thread where you hilariously complained about the SFIV hard trials being hard.
