Christian Slater to star in Alone in the Dark

According to a Hollywood Reporter story, Christian Slater has signed on to take the role of Edward Carnby in the upcoming film based on Alone in the Dark. Filming is set to start on July 14 in Vancouver. The plot borrows elements from Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, in which Carnby takes a trip to Shadow Island, where he has to investigate the death of a close friend. Along the way, he meets up with an anthropologist and discovers a gate that leads to hell.

I was looking forward to this movie, but having Christian Slater as Edward Carnby seems like a bad idea.

If Sam Elliot were a few years younger I think he'd make a decent Carnby...

(especially if the the based it on AitD3!)

.....he might be ok......Perhaps. Maybe. Not likely, but possibly. He did manage to brighten up Windtalkers for me. Ok, so maybe that's only because he got his head cut off by a rather large sword but still, it's a start.
