Radiant Silvergun is coming to xbox live with a Saturn and Arcade modes. This was just announced at the Tokyo Game Show two weeks ago.

I'm sick of patrolling eBay for this game only to see it sell for $125-200.... Looking forward to this release on live for a reasonable price.

What's everyone's thought on what this does to the value of the Saturn copy? Will the renewed release drive up interest and cost of the original? Or will everyone be content with the much cheaper xbox live version making the original impossible to sell at that price?

These remakes certainly affect the collector's market... FF VII sale prices certainly reduced since the PSN re-release... Rpg's and shooters might not compare since button layout and controller is much more important in the shooter genre making the original more appealing.

Any thoughts? Comments?

Anyone who wasn't buying it for collectors' sake burned a copy years ago.

I'd say prices are going to come down. People will possibly be trying to sell their copies off to cash in before the remake is released, so more copies will be around before the release.

And now a MUCH cheaper alternative will be available, I'd say RS is going only to be of interest to collectors and hardcore shumps fans, both fairly niche markets.

I believe something similar is beginning to happen with with the Team ICO games since the announced remake?

Honestly, i really hope it does drop in price, though I hope the drop is temporary.

That will give many of us a good chance at getting a copy at a decent price.

That's a really great thing to hear, I'd love to see this game get a price drop.

Even though the Saturn is my favorite system, the lack of pretty much any exclusive from the time not being re-released in any way, shape, or form has driven up the prices ridiculously on some games. I mean come on, even some 1st party games are going for $60, and that's just annoying at times when you're trying to find a copy.

Someone needs to switch this to Modern Gaming. Anyway,

Hori is releasing a stick...

The price has already come down since April. For a while it was selling at a rock steady $200. That's when I bought it. My guess is that it will come down to around $100 and stay there.

I don't have any regrets about buying because I want people to have more access to Sega's Saturn library. Also, when I buy used games, I do so knowing that certain games are going to be rereleased in the future, but there's no way to know which ones until they make an announcement.

I wonder if they will be translating it. When I play it, I can't tell what the Japanese characters are talking about.

i've been kicking myself for a while for not picking this game up for around 110 -115 a few years ago, possibly off someone on this board, so hearing this might drive the price down to a reasonable number leaves me with nothing but smiles and giggles, unfortunately for me, i dont go online with my 360, and cant now anyway, banned system :(

hopefully this also makes its way to the psn

This will have little impact on the value. People who collect games want the original even if they have a perfect version on a download service. In fact, many people who own a copy already will probably buy the download as well. Games like FFVII were never rare or even limited to begin with. Radiant Silvergun is at least somewhat numerically rare and sealed and/or complete mint copies don't come along all that often. As such, the game will continue to command prices in its current range and people who don't collect will have access to a great game at a low price by download.

I would still like to buy a physical copy of this game some time in the future, but the price is the thing that's holding me back. $100-125 is probably the max range for me.

I got mine for 130 earlier this month. Very happy with an original.

I've always felt this was actually a fun game and it's nice when a good game has some value to it. I would be surprised if the live arcade version doesn't drop the price of the original, though. Looking forward to see the live arcade version. Unless hori's sticks have gotten better since the awful spongy-squishy stuff of theirs I used back in the ps1/saturn days (and I have ignored them since,) shame they are making the stick, because otherwise I might care (especially if it was red octane...).

The price of RS will go down. Like others, I waited on this excellent Saturn Shooter. I agree that this will probably make the game closer to $100. If there is a remake then the orginal will have less demand.

The camp of people who want the game just to play it are more common than those collector types. Radiant Silvergun is in demand because its really good, right? Those who keep eBay prices up by bidding and losing constantly will finally have a way to own the game.
If anything, we should see a fairly good drop similar to Dracula X.

Just to echo others, this is a game sought after by collectors and players. I own it 'cause I want to play it, and will keep it 'cause Saturn is my favorite system. However, because one group will be swayed by the 360 version, the value will definitely drop to some extent. I can't wait to play the 360 version, but will probably pass on the stick.
