Hello
I just purchased a modded Nec turbo duo-r, mainly to play Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, and I really like the Hucard technology. What are my options for using RGB. I have a 32in sony vega with component and s-vid. Should I get an RGB to component, or look for a XRGB-3. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

On a CRT, I would just go for a rgb -> component transcoder. Either one of the cheapies on ebay, or if you want to spend money (though I've seen them go barely higher than the cheap ones,) a kramer fc-14. That requires more effort though if you're hooking up several systems to it (clean sync signal, good, appropriate cabling, etc). XRGB is mainly suited for monitors that don't support 15khz signals, like newer lcd computer monitors.

Thanks for the response Zapf. I've seen these
http://cgi.ebay.com/SCART-RGB-YUV-Component-Video-Converter-Transcoder-/370438169281?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563fd5e2c1
but not sure how I would get audio, or

or

Seems like the cable would do, I'm just using it as an adapter ?
Thank you

You need the first link, the other two are just cables or adapters, they arent actually doing anything - the signal has to be changed from rgb to y/pb/pr. Most people have a scart switch with extra audio output via some rca jacks, or modify that transcoder with a stereo headphone jack wired to the audio pins.

That adapter will work but you do need to mod it for audio not to mention, tap the duo for rbg.

Zapf, Tron 2.0 I understand what your saying. Here's the actual one I bought.

So I could mod the transcoder if I knew what pins where audio, and just install a couple of rca jacks on the side (this might be asking alot of my skills lol) I've tried looking for one with audio jacks, but no luck yet. Thanks for all the help so far.

Found this, looks easy enough. Is there a way to find out which is audio?

The pins should be the same on the one you buy, so just use that diagram

I personally would go the route of duo -r => scart switch => male - male scart cable (A good one) => transcoder => TV and get the audio from the audio out jacks on the switch - you would then have room for other systems if you ever wanted to get them hooked up via rgb =)

Is there one you would recommend, or it this one the right thing.

That looks very similar to one of the ones I have, but I would make sure to get one that explicitly mentions RGB compatibility (though googling this one shows me a post on the amazon listing that mentions rgb compatibility). I think there might be less expensive ones than that if you look around though.

I had no idea that the sega genesis does rgb right out of the box, if this transcoder works well on the pc-engine, I'll get a cable for the sega (wow sega component sounds awesome) master system also?

I've used it with the genesis, works great, just need the appropriate cable. I don't know anything about the sms - the 1st version has the av out port that supposedly has r g b being output like the genesis, but I've never owned one personally. pcenginesales on ebay sells rgb scart cables for several consoles.
