My little nephew just got a Dreamcast, what should he get?

My little nephew has been wanting a Dreamcast for awhile, and me and the wife are getting him one for his Birthday. I got one off of Ebay, that comes with the controllers, vmu's, rumble pack, and 3 games. NFL2K1, Sega GT and Dead or Alive.


I would like to get him some other games too, but I'm not really sure which Dreamcast games are the definite must have games. The kid is 10 years old, so that would have to be taken into consideration. I know he likes sports games.


Here is a list of games that I think he might like. Which games am I missing?

Hmm...Hydro Thunder was pretty cool.

You have most of the best multiplayer games, but you forgot Chu Chu Rocket! (which is a Sonic Team classic), Power Stone 1 and 2, and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.

Heck, I've been temped to throw down $25 to grab a DC just so I could play Third Strike and Chu Chu.

Anthony - Get him some shmups. Every kid needs shmups. I recommend Mars Matrix, Gunbird 2, Giga Wing, and Giga Wing 2. If you want to go the import route, grab Zero Gunner 2 and Ikaruga. And hey, why not pick up Cannon Spike while you're at it?

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. I really appreciate it. I'm going to make him a list of like 30 games for the Dreamcast that he should concentrate on, when he has some spare cash to buy games.


I'm going to do my best to try to get him a couple of really good ones. He's a huge NBA fan, so I'm going to get him NBA2K2 if I can find it for a decent price. I'm also going to try to get him Jet Grind Radio, if I can find it for a decent price. I think that Jet Grind Radio, might just be on of the top 5 dreamcast games period. I would also like to get him one of the Sonics, just because it's good for a kid to have a run and jump game like that to round out their lineup.

I would also love to get him Shenmue, but it might be a little too complicated for him, at his age. Ecco the Dolphin, I think is another great choice. I know he wants Crazi Taxi, so if I can pick that one up for a good price, I will definitely snag that.

Ecco is gonna be way too frustrating and hard for a kid his age. Avoid.
