Hey dude, fancy seeing you here!

Final Fantasy Adventure was a favorite of mine as a kid. Until Final Fantasy Legend 3 and later Pokemon, it was my favorite RPG on the GB. Dat music.

I was watching the Gaurdian Legend review, and I see that 'Randar' makes an appearance in the game. I only thought he appeared in Golvellious: Valley of Doom, but , suppose he was something of a COMPILE mascot.

So is Sword of Mana a remake of FF Adventure? Which is better to play for someone who has played neither?

FF Adventure is better than Sword of Mana back then and now. Sword of Mana is decent though.

I don't agree. Sword of Mana is the superior version. It's the same game, but the story graphics, audio gameplay and interface have all been greatly improved. The only reason to check out the original is for comparison's sake.

FF:Adventure is easily my favorite game for the Gameboy, however I found Sword of Mana to be pretty mediocre in comparison.

Does anyone know if Sword of Mana has the problem with the keys when you leave the dungeons that was talked about in the review of Final Fantasy Adventure? That seems like it would be ridiculously infuriating.

Yeah, infuriating for first timers. Second and third go-around wasn't bad at all. Just had to remind myself to buy two sets of Keys and Mattocks each before entering dungeons (and 4 for the "forest maze" one). Which is why I put up there on front to give newcomers a heads-up.

Like I said, it peeved the hell out of me starting out but it's a simple fix. There's many more facets to Final Fantasy Adventure that heavily outweigh the flaws.

How does it stack up against Sword of Mana? IDK. Haven't gotten far but I do know if you keep measuring everything with a mile-high stick, you're in for a parade of disappointment.

That was an excellent review. Final Fantasy Adventure is one of the most enjoyable Action RPGs I have ever played.

You nailed just about everything in the review. Although there are some strange glitches I have encountered over the years. The one that was most memorable was early in the game. It had something to do with hitting an enemy on the edge of the screen and as the screen changed to the next you would get teleported much, MUCH later in the game.

I was, I believe, in the woods around Wendel. I attacked an enemy on the left edge of the screen and as the screen changed to the next I ended up in the Snowfield or was it the crystal desert Dime tower area of the game? It was crazy and by the time I realized what happened I died. I'm pretty sure I found that specific glitch documented online years back... Maybe on Gamefaqs. So I know it happened to others as well.

I also like Final Fantasy Adventure MUCH better than Sword of Mana. I usually don't like remakes and although SOM is well done, its no exception. FFA is a pure, well executed, vision. SOM, while technically well done, I found too distracting and convoluted.

Final Fantasy Adventure is a timeless classic!

I found the glitch I was talking about...
