Why don't the 72 to 60 pin adaptors on Stone Age Gamer work with the AV Famicom?
Is there one that does work with the AV Famicom?
Will the AV Famicom use the AC adaptor of a Model one Sega Genesis or what do I need?
Also with the AV cables I hear it only outputs mono, does it come out of the red jack or the white jack or both?

I'm not sure of the 72 to 60 pin adapters. From what I read at a couple forums (and a cached page from these forums), it sounds like the adapters stone age gamer has don't make a good connection with the AV famicom rather than flat out not working. I also heard at the Famicom World forums that other 72-60 pin adapters work fine with the AV Famicom.

The JP Famicom power adapter outputs DC like a Genesis model 1 adapter and has the same plug. Don't use a US NES power adapter with it. It outputs AC and would short out the voltage regulator. A Genesis adapter is pretty close in voltage to the JP Famicom adapter, but I'm weary about the 100V compared to 120V for the US adapters.

The voltage of the JP Famicom adapter is:
Input: AC 100V 50/60Hz 18VA
Output: DC10V 850mA

The US AV cables are fine and I just use the white plug. It seems both red and white plugs output the mono sound. There were also US mono cables available for SNES and those should work too.

Thanks for the help, it's going to be a real pain to find a 72 to 60 pin converter when all the places I look have only the opposite.

I'm not sure if the adapters changed since I ordered mine much earlier this year. But the one I purchased for use on my AV Famicom just requires some fiddling with the placement when inserting it.
I was bummed when I first inserted it and the game didn't boot. After trying a few times and then finding a sweet spot with it partially inserted (just don't press it all the way to the bottom of the cart clot) it works fine.

why not get a US Model A/V modded system and a 60-72 pin adapter, itll be much easier and cost about the same. A few guys on here can do it for you.

Aren't those converters very common in Hong Kong?

US Model A/V NES's and 60-72's won't cut it if he wants to play the games with the sound enhancement chips. (especially from Akumajou Densetsu VRC6 to Lagrange Point's FM Synth music)

Because I like Import consoles, and I already have a US toploader, and besides I don't have any Famicom games at all so I want to basically start my Famicom collection with a System. I know this seems pretty stupid but, after i started buying Super Famicom games I bought an actual Super Famicom even though I cut the tabs out of my SNES.

I picked up one of those Yobo adapters awhile back and never got it to work on my AV Famicom, and only got it to work once or twice with my Twin Fami. I blamed it more on shoddy construction more then anything else.

I recently bought another 72 to 60 pin adapter off a forum member that works great with my AV Famicom. I can play all my NES games, my Powerpak, and it even works with the few homebrew carts I have. Mine looks nearly identical to this one but with a different sticker on the front:
