I finally got one of these babys today for $55.00, and let me tell you, I love it. My GBA was being neglected for awile, as I dont like playing on that little screen, squinting to see things, well I bought a GBA player, and playing on the TV screen is awesome!

For one, obviously, it dosnt take batteries, which saves cash, I rarely played my GBA outside anyways, I always tended to play at my house, so this is perfect for me.

Plus its great that you are playing on your TV, which means a fairly large picture (depending on your screen size).

Just like the Super Gameboy in its day, this item is a wonderful addition to any serious gameboy player out there. I fully suggest getting one! :)

It doesn't reek havoc on the resolution at all?

Hell no, the resolution is awesome man! Although I hear on select titles it can be bad, the only game I have been playing is Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire anyways, and it looks perfect, when I test more games on it later, I will let you know how it is.

Mega Man Battle Network looks like crap on it, sadly.

The main reasons I bought it were for:

Final Fantasy Tactics 2
Pokemon Sapphire
Advance Wars 2

It's even more useful with a Flash ROM :) Never thought I'd play Miner 2049er with a Wavebird! Sweet. Konami Classics is my GBA player favourite so far though. Gyruss + Wavebird = heaven.

I thought about picking up a wavebird, but would sorta be useless, I sit right up on the TV when I play anyways.

Ah, thanks for reminding me to post my thoughts about it.

The GameBoy Player is nothing like what it should be.

First off, they goofed somewhere along the line with the connection between the GC and the GBP. This might be a software issue (my case in point is only built on the Connectivity Bonus in one pre-GBP software package: Metroid Prime, which apparently can't read complete Metroid Fusion data from the high-speed port. In other words, you still need a GameBoy and the link player. Fuckin'!

Secondly, the backgrounds are just about all dumb. I use #20 (black background) myself.

Thirdly, you can't custom map controls...B is always gonna be that little red B button, and A will always be the green button. I really could have used the two shoulder buttons as A and B during that SA-X fight in Metroid Fusion.

Finally: the game needs a boot disc. What the..? I think they could've put all the data they needed to on GBA-size ROMs and stuck those inside the unit.

The system, though, is still awesome. If only they could fix these issues with a new boot disc, we'd be all set.

This is probably my only problem with the GBP. It is straight up dumb that the link feature couldn't be read straight from the GBP. And on the same note, I heard that if you want to play multiplayer you also have to use the link cable with GBA's as the other people. I don't know why they couldn't just use the cube. Actually, I do know why. It's because Nintendo, like any company would not give up the oppurtunity to make you buy more stuff than you really need. But anyway. The GBP rocks. All the games I have look great on the big screen.

Well, they ARE Nintendo, they know people will shell the cash out, and YOU know you will shell the cash out for even more add ons in the future, so lets just enjoy it, shall we? :D

I try. I was swearing profusely at the SA-X fight. As they're Nintendo, they also managed to mess up with the story (it all started when somebody said "Samus should speak!" ...) That's a different rant, though. :D

Ed, I know EXACTLY what you mean, it must have took me 3 or 4 hours of CONSTANT tryign to finally beat SA-X and then the final boss, who was a wuss, SA-X just took alot of thinking to accomplish, after I learned his patterns he was a piece of cake.

Your right, and I probably will be the first person in line to buy the new Nintendo product, but what kind of fan would I be if I didn't bitch about something that I thought could have been done better. Hey, maybe eventually they will listen to us and stop stringing us along. LOL

Yep, just about the same with that plant boss.

I died in a few funny ways: once, I'd beaten that very last critter (by the docking bay) that I thought was possibly an Etecoon really pumped up on X juice and stereoids, or something. I beat it with 2 seconds left to go; the ship was just about to land...argh. I finally got out with 40 seconds to spare. Heh.

It also sucks when you get killed by the third form of the SA-X (the second only landed on me once or twice through all the times I've played it; it's like the retarded cousin of Dracula's Second Form or something). I figured out you can just space jump into that thing and keep jumping around to get full health, but that's not a good idea if you're trying to get a record.

I dunno...game got odd around the time you played Ridley. Speaking of that, he only killed me once. O_o what's with that? I actually just sat there aiming up and kept shooting, didn't matter if he picked me up or what. Gah.
