Whew. After nearly 8 months of practice, I finally reclaimed my World Record run on Halloween for the Atari 2600. Just got the notice from Twin Galaxies and my high score's been posted. Rather unfortunate that you used that topic title, since I just got done reading through the rest of GameSpy's Top 25 Dumbest Moments in Gaming.

Including the "John Romero wants to make you his bitch" bit.

Anyways, congratulations on the high score. Notice the lack of exclamation point ;)

Rather unfortunate that you used that topic titleGood point. I "lightened" it up to be more....lighthearted, as was my original intent. Whoo!

Hey Sniderman, How do you "prove" that you really did that, do you send a tape or something?

"Hey, I got a hockey record. I took off my skate and tried to kill somebody, I was the only guy to ever do that." -- Happy Gilmore

Well played Snider-man! TG records are usually pretty tough to beat. I only hold one TG record, but I'm proud of it, and that is enough for me! ;)

You have any plans to demolish any other TG records?

Argh, sorry Snides. Didn't mean to come off as trying to stall the festivities..!

Anyways, I remember hearing about you working on the record before. How long has it been since you started seriously working to get this record?

World Records for video games? Ah no, more ways to kill time....

Congrats on the record, Sniderman. Now of course, one of us will have to beat you :)

Any other record holders present?

Well, I have a couple...I hate to bring them up sometimes because I know that someone will blow them up!!!

Colecovision Bump 'n Jump - 55,112 (of course, so far I'm the only one to post a score for it...)

I have a score of 51 on Leaderboard Golf on the C64...the leaderboard shows it as #3 score, but the #1 score is an 81...last time I checked, golf was a low score game though!!

Same golf score snafu on Mini Putt for the C64...I hold records on all 4 courses, but each one is listed below worse scores.

It says I have a record score of 82 on Atari 2600 Frog Bog...thing is that game doesn't exist AFAIK, and I don't remember playing it.

Arrrrggghhhh....

<<Stretchhhhh>>>

7 freakin' hours.......

<<Uncramp, unwind....>>>>

I swore I'd break my old record on Halloween.....and damn if I didn't do it! :D Been playing straight since 4 p.m. and just finished with this new high score:

2,446,650

My goal was to break the 2 million mark, and I did it with room to spare. Bested my old record by 1,046,250. Hate to be too braggy, but I really don't think anyone will break this, as I don't think anyone will ever want to sit down and play this game for 7 straight freakin' hours.

Now to send the tapes to Twin Galaxies. Yippee! Wanted to do it this weekend, so I'd have a Halloween record on Halloween!

Glad to hear Sniderman.

I tried for the top record at a game called Spitfire Attack but I never finished submitting my score. It's not too late though.

Way to go Tim!
I sort of have a record on there. I have this from CGE-

2nd Place -- Marty Cosimo, of Mt. Sinai, NY, won a Namco 5-1 Jostick and a video game book titled: "Arcade Fever."
Stampede for the 2600, I got 3,168

That's an awesome record to have. Good job on making it safe!

I have one record, of sorts, there. I reached one million points is 2600 Laser Blast. Unfortunately, the game ends at that point, so I share the record with four other guys. Took just over two hours, though, so I don't see many people joining us. Who can stand Laser Blast for two hours?
Currently, I'm working on the record for 2600 Enduro. This one is going to be rough. The second place score is 1349.9, the first place score is 180,000.00. I can reach the second place score, first is a problem. Apparently, it took the guy over 40 hours to obtain that score. I'm about to the point where I can begin to think about a marathon, now I just need the time. I may have a weekend next month which I can blow on an attempt.

Yeah, I believe Todd Rogers has the high on that one. None of his marathon scores should count tho, on account of him being an android ;)

lol, no kidding. All of his marathons are ridiculous. I honestly know I won't come close. I only hope to secure a high second place.

CONGRATS!!!

I was looking on that web site and saw that the current record for SMB for the NES is 5 Min 10 sec.

WOW, just imagine if you told Nintendo back in '85 that their super smash pack in game would eventually be beat in 5 minutes. I wonder what they would have said then.
