Anyone else remember this SNES game? I beat it when it first came out and remember really enjoying it, including the gimmick where your character starts out really wimpy and scared and slowly becomes stronger. The AVGN has now reviewed it, so I'm expecting standard Internet opinion to become that it is and always was bottom of the barrel crap as happened with games like Simon's Quest. I'd like to get some honest opinions from a place less susceptible to those influences before that happens.

Simon's Quest was ever anything but crap? This is news to me, and that was like, one of the first games I had on NES.

I remember reading about Lester the Unlikely and thinking it had a neat concept but sounded kind of weak. After seeing it in action, I feel like that was the proper way to look at it.

I remember reading about the game some time ago, and it does seem like a unique and interesting concept. Sadly, it doesn't look like it was executed very well. If the play control was polished and tweaked a bit more, it could have very well been an under-rated gem.

I haven't played LTU yet, but it was always one of those "side games" I been semi-curious about back in the mid '90s. On a side note, I never form an opinion of a game I've never played based solely on what someone else thinks. Person X may hate game X, but person Y may like it. I find the best way is to play it yourself and formulate your own opinion. Don't rely on others.

I remember playing it several years ago and not liking it much at all. It was too clunky to play.

I rented it back in the day and found it every bit as clunky as the Nerd did. One intresting thing the Nerd did not show in his video is that Lester turns into a brave hero as you play thur the game. Cool concept but the game wasn't fun enough for me to stick with it in order to see Lester grow a pair.

Not going to lie, but the game looks fucking terrible.

Same. The nerd has reviewed a lot of games, but this one is definitely one of the worst I've seen, along with Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. And this is coming from someone who enjoys Top Gun!

I wouldn't touch that game with a ten-foot pole.

I've tried playing this game on and off for years. It's just so clumsy and poorly executed that I can never get far in it. However, it did do a few things right. The animation was really well-rendered and smooth, and the concept of Lester's character developing was neat. Unfortunately, having him run across the screen every time a new enemy approaches is more hassle than it's worth.

its funny...

I saw avgn's review of it and it actually sparked an intrest in the game for me. I would pick one up if i found it for the right price in the wild. I just thought it looked cool and diffrent.

I played it back in the day with a friend. I found it to be solid, but unremarkable. one of those that's a solid 7 out of 10, but looking at it today, it's hard to overlook its flaws.

I bought this game in 94 or 95 in a bargain bin. I don't think I spent more then $5 on it. I was choosing between this game for $5 and Ranma 1/2 for $8. This was at Kaybee Toys.

I liked it when I was young and thought it was quite funny the way he would shake his head and run away. That spider boss always made me mad. I never beat it, I really should give it a try again.

The game sounds like a true challenge.

I've played it but didn't really do so for more than five minutes. Seeing the Nerd -get- the controls really made me realize that part of its difficulty IS the crappy control. I might give it another shot sometime.

I can see how the early clumsiness and running away might turn people off, but that's kind of the point and what sets the game apart. Lester gets a lot less wimpy and scared as the game goes on. The controls are a bit awkward, though, the way I remember there were some sections that frustrated me.

This thread instantly remined me of Eric the Unready. Now THAT was a game.

I don't know why, but watching it, this seemed like a game that should have been on the Amiga/ST line instead of consoles.

Computer gamers might have had the patience (20 minutes to load a game from a cassette? OK!) to deal with the early goofyness to get to where Lester becomes more of a hero. Just my two cents.

Still, early game seems horrendous, although the animation and idea are both neat...

This game is sooo bad...I have to own it and play it myself. I have never heard of this title till AVGN brought it out.
