Strange cart on ebay.

I was looking through Earthbound listings when I found this :

The cartridge seems fishy, with a serial bigger than usual, and a back label saying "Made in Japan". Were Earthbound carts made in Japan ?
Then there is the bottom right corner of the front label with white residue.

Can it be a fake, or is it just a normal cartridge ?

Question is, does the seller know if it's fake or not. When you go to used game stores and pawn shops, you never know what somebody brought in if you're not an expert on identifying counterfeits yourself.

Well i have a copy and it says made in mexico on the back. Very strange indeed.
