Ridge Racer 7 recently got a 3D patch ("3D LicenseVersion" as they call it). At the moment, it's only available for Japan and Europe, but I did manage to download it from the EU PS Store. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be working on the US version of the game. All the 3D demos on PSN have easy-to-find menus to enable 3D, but this doesn't seem to do anything.
Any thoughts on this? It's a PS3 launch title getting an update, and not a very well-orchestrated one at that.

Patches and game expansions on the PS3 are region specific, as you discovered.
So say you had the North American release of Ferrari Challenge. You can't simply create a Euro account to download the Euro exclusive expansion pack since the game is coded to be looking at a folder named something like "FerrariExp-NA" while the European expansion would be installed to a folder named something like "FerrariExp-Euro". Only the European release would know to look for that file directory where the expansion was.

Any plans to release this patch in the US? We just got a 3D TV and Ridge Racer 7 is pretty cheap now.

My parents finally got the 3D converter and glasses for their DLP a few weeks ago, and I actually picked the game up specifically to try it out. Given the release schedule of the JP and EU patches, the US patch is overdue by at least a week or so, assuming it's 2-3 weeks inbetween each one. I honestly don't see what's stopping them from putting it on the market.
