When you ask people what their favorite NES game is, you find that a few games usually occupy that spot, e.g Zelda, Metroid, SMB3 etc. So there tends to be a lot of common answers for #1.
I want to know if this tendency also appears at later spots.
So without giving your favorite 1-7 NES games, just state your 7th favorite NES game.
Again, do NOT give any lists, just state your 7th favorite game.
I'll start. My 7th favorite NES game is Little Nemo Dream Master.
Jackal - Was never too into action games when I was younger, but this one was always one of my favorites and a game I never really had a hard time getting far into. Now it's a game I enjoy played every now and then since it's a damn fun game, still can't beat it without using Game Genie tho.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
Loved the turtles back in the day, and this was as close as a kid could get to playin' the arcade game at home. The snowmen were boss.

Super Mario Bros.
I honestly thought it would place higher in my list, but after thinking about it and calculating my 1-6 I found Mario's original adventure taking up the near bottom of a top ten.

Gun-Nac, one of the finest shooters ever. My dad got this for me as a gift without any prior knowledge of it and, unlike many other random choices of this sort, it turned out to be awesome.

Well, I think it's safe to say that gamer favorites tend to diverge as the number spot is increased. (I think we all knew this already)
I took the liberty of performing a best fit curve to the above data. I know it's only a few samples, but it's just for fun. :)
I assumed for #1, we have 3 favorties and for #7 we currently have 12. An exponential regression curve for this is:
y = 2.3811 * e ^ 0.2310x
Using this fit, the equation predicts there should be around 24 different games at position #10. I'll have to start another thread to verify this :)

Not me, although Metroid is pretty good. I wouldn't have any SMB or Zelda game anywhere near my top 10

I guess it is Kirby's Adventure. I based mine solely on the amount of times I beat these games. I also know because it is one of the nine games I took the effort to get a CIB copy of even though I already had the game.
And nope Metroid wouldn't even touch my top 20 NES, maybe even top 30. I kinda dislike that game when compared to other Nintendo franchises because of how tedious it is to refill your health meter when you continue with the long password. Or if you lose and have to continue from that point. In Zelda all it takes is a walk to the fairy fountain while in Metroid you basically have to grind (yes, grinding in a platform shooter) to get it all back.

I'd go with Final Fantasy II. Great game with a bit of bad pacing that prevents it from fitting into the top 6.

hey, I never said metroid was anywhere near the top in my list. I was just stating was most gamers seem to place as their #1.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Always thought it was a very underrated action RPG with a lot of variety and a pretty fun expansion of the mythology of the movie.

I put a decent amount of thought into it and came up with Adventures of Lolo.

Zelda 1 actually came out as #7 when I sat down and listed them... This is due to me being odd and liking Zelda II more than the original in my older days.
Other 'odd' game that got ranked higher because I'm odd: Pinball Quest, at #6

I can't tell you how many times I've beaten Pinball Quest. I don't even know what the other boards that aren't part of the RPG section play like!
The second board with the witch boss can be nasty, but she's nothing compared to the weird mine carts/goblins 4th board. Those little hijacking bastards are tough!

I put some thought into it, and I tried to base it on how regularly I play the games to make the list.
Of course, this list changes all the time. But currently for me, #7 is Ghosts n' Goblins.
The reason being, is that I love the game, but I can only play it for an hour or so at a time, and then I have to take a break because it's so freakin' hard. I haven't beaten the second level yet, though I have only owned the game for a month and a half.
I like the creativity that went into making this thread. You're right, we've all talked about Zelda and Mario a million times.

Under careful reconsideration I switch from Final Fantasy 1 to DR. MARIO. Dr. Mario is so amazing.

This could be a neat discussion topic for certain spots on certain systems, like say "Your #9 favorite Genesis game" or to get really weird, go outside the top-10 realm.
"#12 favorite Turbo Grafx game" would probably get a hell of a lot of play here :D
