Its a flash game, and ive played halfway through the first episode and wow...this is the best Mario game i've ever played! I use a PS2 controller to play it-it mixes SMB1-World with many different elements and with amazingly 'Nintendo-ish' level design. New weapons (the Billy Cannon firing Bullet Bills is hilarious) and the addition of Link, Metroid/Zelda 2 themed levels in certain parts (you fight Mother Brain in a Mario game!) it just blows my mind. Watch the trailer if anything else :http://www.supermariobrothers.org/smbx/

How is it compared to Super Mario Crossover?

I thought it was pretty well made for what it is.

The first thing I thought of when I saw it was Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, but I guess this is substantially more complete.

It's not really Flash, is it?

As I recall it's all done in Visual Basic, which I actually find somewhat more perplexing.

The most interesting thing to me is the real-time editor. I can imagine some interesting levels being build around that idea.

I just beat it, sadly with cheats. I didnt want to (it disables any saving to your progress) up at the forst of illusion world's sky fortress. Hard as hell, had to add some items in my arsenal..Some levels just dont have enough powerups to make it through the game's later levels, or adding any midway points leading to an increase and exercise in frusteration. I still cant find the Mother Brain level, and the cheats are awesome (type in supermario128 during the game for some lols) like "imtiredofallthiswalking" on the map screen to map out the entire game.

I tried the add on level packs by other creators, and theyre nothing like this episode. The level makers make it too damn hard! A controller is a must for this game, and it makes a huge difference.

This game just runs pretty poorly for me, which is unfortunate as it seems like it would be a good time with a decent controller setup and proper framerate. Guess I'll save it for the new PC I'm building.

thanks a ton for posting this.

I've been playing this game with a friend and it is fantastic!

Only problem is the game is pretty small, so a lot of music has been compressed. I would of settled for a larger game and no compressed music.

Isnt it though? You mean the soundtrack? Yeah its very 64kish compressed sounding, if it were 128kbps itd be great (towards the end there are some higher quality songs). Yep a 100mb version of it wouldnt hurt.

I just downloaded this game a few days ago. I loved it, it was a great effort and only had a few minor flaws, really recommended. I beat it in two days, I know I played it too much. I didn't cheat at all, I finished every stage legit and unlocked all of the stars and fought all of the bosses. I don't understand how the game is that hard for some of you, you just need some patience and practice. I decided to type in the cheat to unlock the map just to see if I missed anything at all and I missed one second exit in the desert but it only bypassed a couple of stages and didn't lead to any amazing secrets. I have to say not too bad for not using a guide. I did consult one youtube video just to get the jumping down for the star in the lava stage but I found it without cheats.

I really enjoyed this game. I want to try the multiplayer but I only have one controller for my PC that this game recognizes and it's the Playstation to USB adapter that it recognized.

I will play this again!

I just found out today that apparently Nintendo done and went shut these nice folks down a while back. It doesn't seem like there was much of a fuss.

Would anyone have a reliable download site? (Wait, nevermind (http://www.g4g.it/2011/03/31/super-mario-bros-x-v1-3-and-others/).)

I'm glad I already put the latest version in my archive.
Projects like these are best kept under wraps until complete, or at the very least untraceable to any actual person.
It's hard to believe that someone smart enough to develop a game can be foolish enough not to realize that.
Keep development talk in closed forums, upload videos with burner YT accounts, distribute via P2P, etc.
It's all basic shit.
