Hello,

I've been making recordings of some rare old game related Japanese laserdiscs and VHS tapes from my collection and posting them on youtube so more people can enjoy them.

So far I have these up:

Capcom Game Syndrome(Superplay)
Namco Gal's Island(All About)
Samurai Spirits Juuni Kenshi Retsuden(All About)
The King of Fighters '95(All About)
Super Monaco GP/Turbo Outrun (Superplay)
Super Darius Perfection(Superplay)

They are all recorded through a high end PCI input card at 480i, deinterlaced, and rescaled to 480p for the best quality.

http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroRealityGaming

This forum seems like a place that would appreciate them, as they are all fairly rare and classic gaming related so I decided to make a post. If I'm violating rules etc my apologies.

I've been thinking of doing this with my Ryuuko No Ken 2 Gamest VHS tape, but I'm kinda scared SNK will come and kill my account. :(

I'll check out the KOF 95 one, at least. :)

Well, if you're interested in loaning it to me I would be happy to do a high quality rip and even put it on a DVD for you :)

Thanks, but no thanks

As you like.

Now for another SNK laserdisc upload, Garou Densetsu Special.

This LD contains story/bio/endings for all characters, as well as combos and cheesy Japanese voice acting.

Fail to see whats snippy about it, you can send a PM instead of spamming the thread if it bugs you though.

I don't think Arasoi was being snippy, just his way of saying alright to you if you want to do your own rip of it.

Misunderstanding is misunderstood. But on topic I really did enjoy the Super Darius Perfection rip, getting to see all the zones in a game I'm hopelessly not good on.

The last laserdisc upload for a while, before I start on Air Raid, Demon Front, and the Capcom Friendly Club VHS tapes.

Game Live Video: Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior is a basic how to on how to beat the original arcade version of Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior with each character, against every other character. The techniques used could be described as fairly cheap, exploiting the CPU AI, jab into throws, etc. But it's still a fun watch.

I missed the snippy remark here?

Just drop it, allright? Leave the guy's thread alone. He doesn't want anyone to mess with it, and me posting this second message is pushing it already.

Errkay...

Well back on topic - this reminds me I have a complete Gamest KoF '94 VHS that could use this treatment. Could I take up that "Rip it, put it on DVD" option, with the video being put online of course as well?

Uploaded today is an old gem of a VHS tape from back in the early days of gaming mags, Game Player's Gametape Volume 1 Number 2.

These are old gameplay/strategy tapes released by Game Player's magazine back in the day showing strategies for old NES games, and some great vintage NES commercials for games and accessories. It's really a blast from the past, and brings back nostalgic feelings of gaming as a kid back then.

This particular tape contains Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man 2, Bad Dudes, Amagon, and Air Wolf.

Cool, I have 2 rare-as-hell game related Anime... Salamander (Life force) and Ninja Ryukenden (Ninja Gaiden) on japanese VHS..if that counts for anything

I love the Salamander one because of the interesting synthesizer versions of the video game music they put in the short shooting segments (the coolest parts of the animes, IMO)

Lords of Thunder: Promo VHS

Well here is an odd one. A very short 8 minute promo video released for the US release of Lords of Thunder. The production quality on this VHS is quite cheap, and some of the random scenes are pretty strange to say the least.

Not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but it seems more and more of these old video promo-material is popping up.

Why, about a few weeks ago on NND two taped promo vids for "Same Game" and "Super Fishing Big Fight" popped up. I noticed because they both had the "Satellaview" tag on them. ^^; So I put them up on my blog;

http://superfamicom.org/blog/2010/12/tape-promos-from-niconicodouga/

Are there any other promo videos I should look for on NND maybe?

Is there a reason why the interviews with the players look all weird and scrambled? Is the tape damaged, or was the director on crack?

Arasoi
12-04-2010, 12:00 AM
Some of the interviews on that tape were filmed "shot on shitteo" to quote the Cinema Snob, and not even extensive filtering like Neat Video can correct the problems. Overall a very low budget promo tape.

It is something I'm definitely considering doing later on yes, so that these old tapes and LDs that are getting progressively tougher to find (even the gametape VHS ones now, oddly) can be archived/burned to DVD etc.

If Arasoi has the original Laserdiscs, he could probably make VHS (or even DVD) copies, I believe, since I hear Laserdiscs don't normally have copy-protection.

Any more vids coming soon? Really enjoying what you've got so far (the japanese stuff anyway, not paying much attention to the western-released videos)

And tell us more about the japanese strider prototype! Like how did you get it, and the differences you've found from the released version. Strider is my favorite ninja in all of gaming.
