Does anybody know a good lubricant for the control stick of an official Dreamcast controller? I am looking for something that will provide good protection while allowing the stick to glide smoothly and quickly snap back to its neutral position. I have tried silicone grease which I have successfully used for my N64 and GameCube sticks, and got silky smooth operation but a slow and incomplete snap back. I have also experimented with mineral oil and brake caliper grease which resulted in a quick return to neutral but less than smooth action.

Have you tried lithium grease?

Personally, I use white lithium grease when I reassemble joysticks. It comes in sticks, kinda like chap stick. I found it at Sears forever ago, so I'm not sure if they still sell it.

Even though in the past I have tried the lithium grease that comes in a can (which is absolutely horrible), it never occurred to me to use the proper stuff. I'll pick some up soon and report back.

I went to the automotive store and bought Valvoline General Multi-Purpose Grease. It is a NLGI #2 grade white lithium grease (Lithium 12-Hydroxysterate) and can be found in either a tube or a can. I lubed up my stick really good and it now feels really nice. Thanks for the help.
