OK so I stumbled upon this video on youtube

Very nicely edited tribute to Sega featuring the music of Queen. Full of WIN right there.
But what took me by surprise was the game shown at 1:05. A number of classic Sega characters jumping into the air? I see Ristar, Astal, Clockwork Knight, and Alex Kidd... all on the same screen. Was this some kind of Anime?
Any help towards finding an answer would be greatly appreciated. Plus, feel free to comment on how awesome that video is. Because it is. Awesome.
