I found a browser/swf game called Hummingbird Mind. I tried finding other games, but almost nothing turns up. Good luck.

I think this thread is probably a play on the joke line I've heard before that Kolibri is the best hummingbird-based shooter ever released on the 32X, as if that's something special... :)

There were some good shooters that were organic in nature, like Agony and Apidya on the Amiga. I always thought Kolibri was a bit of a rip-off of those, although it did add in it's own gameplay elements. And man, after watching the Kolibri YouTube video, that publisher really wanted to channel Psygnosis, didn't they? It's like they tried as hard as they could to be like Agony.

That's not a shooter, it's a mama bird simulator. Also, I am reasonably certain that bird is not a hummingbird.

I'm not sure about that, never heard of those games as I'm not an Amiga person, but I do know that Kolibri is from the same developers as the Ecco the Dolphin games. Even though the genre is different, stylistically I think there are clear similarities between the Ecco games and Kolibri.

... Oh, those are shmups starring a bird and a bug. Well, Kolibri does have that (as well as the '80s shmup Insector-X, where you played as a bug or robo-bug or something), but it's also not autoscrolling, and I think that's where the Ecco influence really comes in, in the gameplay. It's got wandering around trying to figure out what to do, combat, puzzle solving... it's not Ecco, but I think you can tell it's from the same people.
