View Full Version : Need NES & SNES Batteries in Bulk

So I recently went through testing a bunch of nes and snes games I want to put on ebay. Problem is, a third have dead save batteries. Was thinking of using these but not sure if they would work.
What do you guys think?

You need CR2032 batteries for NES and SNES carts.

If you want to buy batteries in bulk I'd suggest somewhere like digikey.
100 CR2032 batteries for $19.25 (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=P189-ND) (or 10 for $2.48...total)
They mention in that listing that CR2025 isn't the right size, but if you did want those they aren't much more (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=P188-ND).
Shipping isn't too much either but you have to buy in bulk to make it worth it. If you're only buying 1 or 2 then somewhere like Walmart is probably going to be your best bet.

Has anybody found any good battery holders that actually fit back on a NES board? Every tutorial I see online has a new battery holder attached with wire and glue. Surely there is one that could be soldered right into the old battery spot on the pcb.

Thanks a bunch, but how would those work? Their stock photo doesn't show the metal tabs that nes and snes batteries have.

Oh, well, several options. They do sell solder tab versions though it looks like they are a little bit more. You can also buy coin cell battery holders that can be soldered into place. This makes it easier to replace the battery in the future as well and I've seen many people on here recomend doing it that way. And if you have the soldering skills, you can solder wires on yourself(easier said than done).

Most of the Solder Tab ones look like they are in the 10 for 0.968each range. Most don't have pics so you would have to open the Datasheet file on there to see if it would be a fit.(Some have horizontal tabs, some have vertical). The main difference in price looks like it's the mAh. The higher the value, the longer it will last...but for low current applications like memory saves I doubt it will make too much noticable difference.

That's what I have alwasys wondered. I bet if someone made one that drops right into place they'd make a killing selling them.
